Before everybody flames me I did do a search and read some posts on this topic. AND I have tried some of the suggestions but I still cant get the drive out of PIO Mode....

Ok I have 2 hard drives on 1 IDE channel but I can only get 1 of the 2 drives to work in UDMA
mode?!?

Drive 1 (Master) Maxtor 6L040J2 40gig ATA-100 - Working in Ultra ATA Mode 5 :)
Drive 2 (Slave) Samsung SP0802N 80gig ATA-133 - PIO MOde :(

Im using 80 pin UDMA cable.

I have an ASUS A7V600 Socket A motherboard with 2 IDE channels. MB is only 6 months old and

supports up to ATA 133/150 RAID on channel 1 and ATA 133 on 2nd channel.

I have a DVD-RW and a CDRom drives on the other IDE channel. These are both working fine in UDMA

mode 2.

My O/S is Win XP Pro SP 1 and I have set the transfer mode under Device Manager to 'DMA if

Available'

THINGS I HAVE TRIED

I have downloaded the drive manuals from the web and tried all the various jumper settings. I

can post these links if necessary.

I have checked the BIOS and checked that both drives are set to Auto.

I have also tried deleting the drive from device manager but it still automatically re-installs

as PIO mode.

Please help, this is driving me mad as I have this expensive fast 80gb drive running like a

snail !!
