I have recently gotten some of the strangest spyware I have seen to date, which is strange to me since I don't even download most things on the computer i'm using now to avoid this case..

Any way, I have spybot search and destroy and SpySweaper... Used em both got rid of all that junk, BUT I still am getting pop ups for "shoot the terrorist win an IPOD etc. on google.com yahoo.com and various other pages I know don't have pop ups. Heck I get pop ups even when not browsing and watching tv.

Also I have noticed lately that the browser window will ummm not really sure how to describe it, but I will be typing and it will all of a sudden not be the active window, like the computer is trying to do something in the background and it de selects the current browser window. Only for a second though and then it happens every so often, also my number keys have been switching to the SHIFT + number key combo's but nothing is hitting shift... aka ill hit 1 and it will put a ! even though nothing is hitting shift....

I need some help here im usally good at getting rid of this junk but this is getting out of control

Sounds like you need to do a full virus scan as well as the spyware sweeps

Try Trend Micro's online scanner too. It picks up on a lot of malware that others don't:

Hi there, I had the same problem a few weeks back, it's a malware that PCCILLIN calls a virus and others call spyware.

It replicates itself in you windows directory as a file called b43498023.exe (where the number changes each time you delete it) and creates a file called winpup.exe in you root directory. It also spreads itself throughout your registry, so if it's deleted, it DOWNLOADS itself the next time you go online.

WINPUP.exe is evil, the most evil thing ever to get on my system, and it was downloaded from a popup that directed my browser to another site, and automatically downloaded it.

Winpup (windows popup) will launch adverts even when your browser is not running, for all sorts of crap, making money for someone, and NONE of the spyware killers could get rid of it, although the bragged they could.

The winpup.exe file writes itself into the notepad.exe file on your computer, and when it's run, winpup.exe does it's thing, reinfecting everywhere, it's the japanese knot-weed of malware, one tiny fragment left anywhere, causes it to download it all again.

After much searching the internet, and trying all sorts including manually carving up the registry (don't do that ! ) wipe the HDD and reinstall windoze.

The creator of winpup.exe should hope never to be found by me...........
