as you will know, when ctrl enter is pressed while typing in the address bar the www. and .com are added, but lately this has stopped working, i run xp on a amd 2800+, ask for details if neccesary, do you know what causes this to stop, is it a setting, i feel so stupid

What browser are you using? IE? Netscape? My first bit of advice would be to run something like Lavasoft Ad-aware and then to try another browser if you don't find the source of the problem to be a piece of malware.

Try this in the registry, -
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoCo
mplete]
"Append Completion"="no"
"Use AutoComplete"="yes"
"AutoSuggest"="no"

Changing "Append Completion" from "no" to "yes" should restore the function.
