Hi for all
I have asus p4pe motherboard,it is bought over 13 months ago.Suddenly monitor is frozen.I boot up my computer and bios advanced set up has came with a red text which is mantioning during last boot up your system hung up improper frequency combination etc.Change the CPU speeds your system is now working in safe mode.
I have checked my bios settings. As I remembered correctly,it is the same that was adjust 13 months ago.I mean CPU speed:Manuel
CPU frequency multiple 20x
CPU External Frequency (Mhz)133
http://www.digital-daily.com/motherboard/asus-p4pe/ My motherboard specification

I have p4 533 FSB 2667 MHz.

I wrote this message while my computer is in safe mode.
How can I solve the problem?I will be very happy and thankful to all who have solved my problem.

I don't know if it's any different with pentiums from other processors (it shouldn't be), but if you want your FSB running at 533mhz, you'd need an external frequency of 266 1/2, since the FSB is 2x your external. Right now, with what you've told me, your FSB is set running at half its speed.

Since your CPU's actual frequency is multiple x external, the settings you'd have to have to get 2667 Mhz with a 533 Mhz FSB would be: Multiple 10x External Frequency 266
The thing is, it would be running at 2660 Mhz. I don't think it can run at such an odd number without overclocking it. The complicated thing is, I don't know what speed ram you have. If you set it to 533 Mhz FSB and say, you only have DDR 266, then it'll fry your ram. You should probably wait until someone who knows more about pentiums posts. ^_^

Thanks for your reply,

But the maximum number that it can be changed is 230.It starts from 100 up to 230.You can not change to 266.An other thing when i remember it was first CPU frequency multiple 20x
CPu external 120.Then I changed to 133.CPU frequency multiple does not changable. It is fabrik fix.

My ram is ddr333 pc2700 512 MB ram.

Hi All,

My workstation rebooted itself during operations, and afterward I am getting the following error during bootup:

-"System hung for improper frequency combination. Make sure the frequency conforms to the specifications of your CPU, DIMM, and other connected devices."

Here is my info:

Pentium III 800MHz
256 MB RAM
CPU settings: 400MHz, 600 MHz, Manual (no auto)
CPU BUS/PCI Freq.: 66.8/33.4 (for 400), 100.3/33.43 (for 600), and a list of 16 settings for manual.
Freq Multiple 6.0x
CPU Vcore 1.7v

How should this be set?

Thanks for any help,

Falcon42
