I would try replacing my IDE cables and then my CD-ROM drive. It may be having a problem reading the disk. If you need another copy of dmboot.sys I can provide it for you.

It's probably not the CD if two CDs give you the same error. I've seen it happen but it is extremely rare. My best is that a piece of hardware is dead. Try replacing the IDE cable from your CD-ROM to the motherboard. If that doesn't work try replacing the CD-ROM or trying an older, slower one,

You need to make sure your hard drive is recognized by the BIOS. Go in the BIOS find the primary master or IDE Channel 0 in Standard CMOS Features. If it shows the drive set it to auto, then hit enter. Hit escape to exit to main screen, hit F10 say yes and hit enter. Also make sure your BIOS is set to CD as 1st boot device. Then you need to wipe the drive insert the CD and reboot. Make sure the hard drive is formatted in NTFS

yes! the ram was the problem. I have a 512 and 256. apparently my pc does not like the 256, probably a bad stick. Took out the 256 and viola! it works! Thanks a lot for your help guys. Appreciate it very much.

Dmboot.sys corrupt file. problem: - Number one culprit is Ram. So change the ram
second one is faulty SMPS
I tried changing the cable resetting the bios etc... no use
But once I changed the Ram everything is fine
