I have been using sony dru-500 for some time and it has been working fine. Then all of a sudden, it started having problems with the computer- like when I try to burn something, the disk will spin in the writer for more than five minutes and sometimes ten minutes before it starts writing and sometimes it just fails to write-sometimes slow in writing. I connected another toshiba sd-r5005 and it is also performing the same thing - slow in writing. I am not sure it is the disks because I have been using that type of disks for a long time and works good.
So instead of taking 12 minutes to write a x4 dvd disk, the dru-500 takes about 17-24 to do so due to the recennt formality of spinning for a long time before writing. I am using Nero 6 and I thought that could be the problem so i installed dvdclone, and it is giving the same problem. What could be wrong?

Specifications:
P4 2,53 ghz
Win Xp professional
2x200gb and 1x120gb harddisk
1gb 333mhz RAM
....and so forth and so on....

I havent done any major upgrading, except that I removed 160gb harddisk containing windows and installed reinstalled another harddisk. My PSU is 400watts.
