i wonder if anybody can help me: i have a virus that keeps reappearing on my computer and no matter how many times i get rid of it it just keeps on coming back the problem being i think that its in my system restore files. i have run AVG and AVAST but even though they find it and i remove it it comes back. i have just noticed that the file names are all one after each other ie a0039690.pif , a0039691.exe, a0039692.exe, a0039693.exe these viruses are all win32:netsky-p any help would be gratefully recieved as these are doing my head in.

turn off/disable system restore, before running your updated Anti Virus scan. Run it in safe mode if necessary.

Yes definately disable system restore. This will erase any restore points save on hdd. run avg again, if all is clear then you are good. turn back on system restore and that's it.
another fix maybe to go to http://www.symantec.com and download the specific virus removal tool. This will set its sights on the specific virus and remove all instinces, barring you know what virus it really is
good luck
