I run my system on Microsoft Me. I encounted a problem when opening it up where to files could not be locate. I used a startup disk to get back onto the sytem then reloaded Me. I now have a problem where it is not detecting the modem. When trying to log onto the net it comes up with the message that it can not detect a modem. I then tried to get the system to detect the modem by running add/remove hardware to scan for any thing new but it does not locate it. It does ask to pick a modem from the pick list but it is not listed there. Can anyone help.

Is this a dial up or DSL modem? Did you reinstall the drivers for the modem when reinstalled ME? What error number are you getting?
Go to Device Manager and check whether or not drivers installed (right click my computer/proerties/device manager) If there is a yellow question mark/exclamation point, drivers not installed yet (if so double click unknown device and click reinstall/update driver) If there is a red x then is was disabled (right click/enable) If listed then you might not of selected the right modem when making new connection . I would just delete old connection and create new one and just make sure that you select your modem from drop down box on first screen.
good luck
Josh
