Here i would like people to list the short cut key they know of in Windows XP! Most of them haven't changed from older OS's, but i would like to know most of the ones i know i found myself!

Here are a few of the ones that i can think of off hand!

Windows key + E = My computer
Windows key + Pause/Break key = System Properties
Windows Key + R = Run
Windows Key + D = Show desktop
Windows Key + L = Log off current user
Windows Key + F = Opens Search page

Ctrl + A = Select everything on open page
Ctrl + C = Copy Selected item
Ctrl + V = Paste previous copied Item
Ctrl + Alt + Del = Task Manager

Let me know what i missed!
Thanks ;)

Good idear for a thread.

But on my system Ctr + P is print. Ctr + V is paste.

Also holding down 'Shift' and tapping the cursor or clicking 'End' or 'Home' is a good way to select text.

This one insn't a keyboard shortcut, but right clciking on the desktop and selceting 'New Shortcut' and pasting this in the propities:

%windir%\System32\Shutdown.exe -r -t 00

Will create a icon that restarts you computer, but bewarned it gives no other dialouge box, and dosn't prompt to save any unsaved work.

Hehe you are indeed correct! lol...That was a typo ;)

I'll go change it to Ctr + V = paste

Thanks for the correction! :):)

edit:

Select an item - Shift + Del = will delete it without it going to Recycle Bin

Ctrl+Shift+Esc is the control sequence for Task Manager (slightly quicker than running through the 'Windows Security' screen), which is one I use quite a lot, together with WinKey+L to lock the station, or switch user.

I'm also a WinKey+E user; just too lazy to find where Micro$oft have decided to hide the Windows Explorer icon on the start menu with this release of their OS.

In addition to the standard ones, I also put Notepad on a Ctrl+Shift+N sequence because I use that quite a lot for extended cutting and pasting operations.

Here are some of the shortcut keys I use most often, excluding the standards like copy and paste:

Windows Key+D: Toggles minimize/maximize...it's similiar to Windows Key+M. A helpful combo for when the boss/parents come by. ;)

Alt+F4: Closes current program. You can hold it to close out everything.

Windows Key+Up arrow+Enter+U: Shuts down the computer.

Windows+R: Opens up the run dialog.

Alt+Tab: Cycle through open programs.

Windows Key+Up arrow+Enter+U: Shuts down the computer.

I use
windows
up
enter
right
enter

I find it easier to do since the keys are closer, and it can be done with one hand as you're wakling away, or if you're sitting somewhere off to the side or something
