How Do I Lower My PF Usage ?

I like to hibernate my computer, but the PF usage gets so high that i have to restart my computer every other day.

It just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

I know that to lower it, you have to stop a whole bunch of useless processes in the background, but i have done that and it gets a little lower and by the end of the day when im done using the computer and no useless crap is running in the background it still high.

It is related to another problem

The mem usage for my processes don't go down.

Like for example, when i use search, the mem usage for explorer.exe can go up to 127,000k, but when im doen using it, it doesn't go back down. Im forced to end it and restart it using the RUN program.

If the a program out on the net that helps regulate this, that would be awesome

If anybody out there can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

What are ur specs? what type of HDD format are u using? NTFS? Fat32? I'm assuming ur using XP as PF usage is most evident in XP. try doing a clean install. also check ur BIOS (refer to your mobo manual). the community can help u better if you include all the details of ur current mishap (that includes ur specs). there are a lot of possible problems. eg. virus, ram, hdd format, mainboard, etc. enough of the lecture though, goodluck.

sometimes...nope sorry...most of the time, once a virus has gotten into your system, it infects even the antivirus software u have running. at this point, the a "good virus" (if i've ever seen one) makes itself invisible to the antivirus even with updates. you'll have to do a clean install to get over this one. boot from a clean disk/cd, format your hdd, etc. you may also try installing your infected hdd in a clean system with an updated antivirus and have that system clean your hdd for you before installing it back into your system. good luck!
