>> ati2dvag.dll problem and possible solution
Yeah, had the same fracking problem, though it didnt take much time to fix it.

What i did was:

After turning on bsod, i did see that ati2dvag.dll caused rebooting. So off to the event viewer to see whats screwd. There was framework 1.1 error, and because ati control panel uses frameweird 1.1... (you figure this this part out). After uninstalling ati stuff (from add / remove progs) and rebooting, cpu runned fine. If you do not count 640x480 and 16 bit view. So whats next? Well that would be framework, i decided to frack the 1.1 and go for 2.0, wich is avaible at http://www.windowsupdate.com, aaand reboot once again. After reboot i installed Ati´s latest drivers, and game we go.

No problems after that, cpu has runned over 24h in row now. How ever it seems that ati2dvag.dll can be caused by number of failures. But this wont cost you anything to try.

Current sys config.

AMD 3500+
Asus a8n-sli deluxe
Ati radeon x800
2Gb ram

Windows x64

I found a solution that works for me! It's the the PCI bridge driver.

As posted by Cobrakaun @ http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-15393-Infinite-Loop-Fix.html

Right click-mouse over My Computer
Properties
Hardware(Tab)
Device Manager(button)
Click [+] next to System devices
right-mouse on CPU to AGP Controller (or whatever your controller is called, mine was SiS AGP)
Update Driver(button)

Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
Next(button)
Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.
Next(button)
Select PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Next(button)
Finish(button)
Reboot.

It worked for me and i hope it works for you too, thanks BOB X

Hi guys,

Same problem here! When trying to apply the solution with the CPU to AGP Controller, I simply can't find it in my list of devices. Can you, please, let me know which one is the equivalent for my computer?

Thanks a lot for your support,

Hey everyone, please help me! The ati2dvag crash that appears in my computer only appears when i try to start a new game in Black & White 2. The error isn't random in my computer - only with Black & White 2. Every other game and application is working fine! Also, when i try to install new drivers, wether ATI's official drivers or Omega drivers, there is a sintax error. I can extract them to a folder, but i can't run the setup! I tried to install them with Windows Hardware Manager, but i didn't do it because Windows said it wasn't sure that the drivers i selected were right for my system, and i had a LONG list to choose from, some stuff i hasn't heard before (RADEON GTI, and stuff like that).

My system specs:
ACER TravelMate 4500 laptop
Intel Centrino 1.60GHZ
512 MB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 64MB
60GB Hard Drive

Sorry for my poor english!
Help, please! I'm looking forward to play this game (it was very expensive...)!

Pedro,

Sometimes laptops can be picky about what video card drivers are used. Try checking your laptop's manufacturer's website to get the latest official drivers for your particular system from there.

As far as your issues with Black and White 2, it could be that your system isn't quite powerful enough to run the game. I had major issues trying to run Black and White 2 on my old 6660GT.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried patching Black and White 2 to the latest version?

Yes, my B&W2 is updated to the latest version. I searched a bit around the web, and there's some people complaining about the exact same problem as i am, but i couldn't find a solution yet. I'm now logging to the Acer website to try and download the latest drivers... But in the game box when i bought the game, i double-checked at the store the system requirements to make sure the game was compatible with my laptop.

My full sys specs:
Acer TravelMate 4002WLMi
Intel Pentium M 725 processor (1.6GHz, 400MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 / 64 MB
60GB HDD
DVD-Dual
512MB DDR

I am also getting this error when playing Everquest2 on a brand new Dell E510. I tried downloading new drivers from Microsoft and ATI, and am now downloading the Dell drivers for the 600X. Would installing a new video card definitely fix this problem? Because with all the hassle it seems this is going to cost me in money and time, it seems like it would be worth it just to replace the card altogether. Maybe I could pick up a GeForce card and stick it in the computer? If its not clear, I am not a computer expert. I just wanted to be able to play one game on a $1000 computer!!! Wow this sucks. My three year old laptop loads slowly and lags badly, but even it can run the game without crashing.

It may but i just used dna-drivers.com to fix my problem. ATI does seem to have alot of problems, i bet a new video card from a different company such as nvidia will work better.

I have read the original problem way back in 2004....but my problem has just started this year. I run a Toshiba laptop with MOBILITY M6 display adaptor, XP Home SP2. Whenever I wish to view anything on Windows Media Player, the error message ati2dvag.dll pops up and disables my graphics totally. Rebooting solves the issue, but I cannot use my WMP without incurring that same problem. Does anyone know which driver is the update for MOBILITY M6? I have no clue and your help would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I also have a problem with ati2dvag.dll. It crashes right when I click "New Game" in Black&White 2. I can watch the credit part, hear music, making new player, and change the setting, but I cant play the game. It just freeze on the loading part. HELP ME PLZ!!!! I want to play this game so much. It really is expensive.

I bet It's the graphic Card that causes the problem
Everyone that has the same problem use ATI Mobility

Intel Pentium M 705 processor (1.5 GHz, 400 MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache)
ATI Mobility 9700/64 MB
40 GB HDD
DVD/CD-RW Combo
256 MB DDR
DirectX 9.0c

Thx in advance for helping
