Well at the most basic level, all you need is Notepad, your browser, and a good tutorial on the interent.

There are loads of other free HTML editiors that colour code your code for you. Coffe Cup do a good one. Or you cab even DL a free trial of Dreamweaver, (the god of all editors);).

As a first tutorial I would recomend going to:

http://www.HTMLGoodies.com

The tutorials are eay to follow, but are a few years old, even so a good place to start.

Good luck.

I make money off the net..

I had to leave work about 4 years ago, I could find a job, and was sitting on my Asz doing nothing, I was on here, and some one said look at my site.. When i had a look it clicked... (slow or what)

I went hunting around for a bit, looking for URls, and well with people on here I started GT WCMT.

It was easy considering I had ran 3 of my own businesses before hand and I can provide a service that people want.. Fix computers, tutor IT related courses, sell cheap hardware, that sort of thing.

Because of my back ground getting up and running wasnt a problem, I know all about web promotions etc. So I went from doing nothing, to being hit like mad week one saw 26K hits week 4 saw 64K, and for a few months I was getting 170K hits. Currently Im getting about 70K hits

Sadly Not many people are buying from the site :( and I do get quite a few call outs but all in the same week, sod's law! and some times none.

Owning /running a business gives you peaks and falls of business its really unstable.

But think of the skills you have, start a site about it, Promote it, then see if people buy from it. Simple. (no its not) lol

My dad is an avid believer that sex sells, any site offering porn etc, will get lots of business, collecting credit card numbers and cashing in, even if your not offering any thing, (whos going to take you to court for there money?) but try some thing honest, that you can do, and you enjoy.

BTW, I used to be a business analyst as well (business advisor) so any ideas, just send them and I will give you five minutes.

Yeah it shouldn't take you long to get into the basics of building a website. Once you get more advanced i would suggest buying stuido mx from macromedia it's what i got and i love it. There are so many things you can do with that. I live in small town so i get quite a bit of people asking me to make a website for their small business since there are few people in my town that even know html

Hey jared thats a nice clean site
I did have that software, well the full MX package., I recently updated to MX2004, Well let just say I would recomend it as its hanging with bolding and font color changes which MX would fly. I guess its more intensive
ME and my webdesigners, were having a look at some of the first website we made as kids... then compairing them to some of todays businesses website.
Shopping carts with PHP and SQL is the thing to learn alot of people stop by but dont buy, I believe its because its not got a shopping cart.. But thats all comming soon!

I think I found a market.....

Selling Shopping carts

You know Ive been looking about for ages trying to find a shopping cart, From what I know this is a standard lay up for collage corses so there is good money in this. have you seen the prices??

I am getting my designers to have a look into this, the main reason being I need one for my site and I dont want to have to charge extra to clients by using hosted and Pay pal and the such like, ( you should see some of the cost involved!!)
There not hard to make either so I dont see why there such a high priced thing? OK you need to have an SSL ( thats the secure payment option <secure socket layer - port 445>) whcih you will find get scanned alot if you got a site... I locked mine sorry!
Well any way, It really can bost business through your site, if you make a generic, say a link button and a SQL date base and web side admin to add your items in and then a button data combo, ( the button can have a number which set the data base running for the rest of the info in that line) then its simple to add stuff.
and keep things up to date - hence thats what im having made..

I you make a test, or demo, there is no reason why you should get about $90 per sale of this software.... And if you made some site templates to go with this then you can charge more and also add a link promotiong your site on it??

I think the bulk of the work is to get a test up together, but you can rob all the stuff from that to build sites for people. It shold be good money as alot of people are looking for this solution...

for a quick example, web search "paypal shopping cart" its a free be bit of software that you can get Ideas from... Cough-- script --- Coughs again! so it could start you off, there are lots of site that offer other scrits that you will need as well, but fdotn forget the SSL package.

If your not to fussed then add the pay pal cart is an idea but DOnt for get to add a % and about $4 to each cost that you have, plus the other fees pay pal has..

But this goes for any sort of website designs or selling on line. you really do need to push some sort of land based advertising and pcik some thing that people want...

If your great at doing things and multi tasking then perhaps a holiday business, BUT you need to be really care full.

Example.. I can get flights for 30, and hotels fro about 15.00 per night that would make a package go for about 300, Now thats all good, as a travel agent will charge about 450-550 BUt yo will need to get some insureance, just incase something happens.. TO be a good guy you need to make sure that everything is paid so the client can have there holiday no matter what or become registired which will involve additional costs.

You could always sell my computer systems hold your own site and just order them in on some of the systems there is space to add a few 100 but then IF your in a different country then you will need to support the systems, Not that any thing has ever gone wrong with the systems, and there really tested before they leave... BUt then you get a high end PC and make a fair bit from then cash wise.

If you like laptop reapairs and your fromt he UK, then another easy one is to order things from me, I got stuff thats a few hundered quid cheaper than you can get anywhere in the UK. This is idea for offering low cost solutions...

Hell OK.... I got an IDEA....

Does any one want to buy a business.... I thnk I may build some and sell then.. New topic I think... I will place it under off topic just after this.. post I will call it "make some money Business"
