I purchased my Sony from Best Buy and upon researching my memory on the hard drives, I noticed that my C drive only has 16GB and my D drive has 58GB . Isn't this backwards? I'm getting errors saying that I'm out of memory. Any way to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

I asked Sony and they were totally off the topic in their responses to help.

Linda

You need a software such as Norton Partition Magic (earlier versions were from Power Quest) or similar which can re-size partitions "on the fly".

I have heard from a number of others with the same issue regarding the "C" drive partition size being too small with the Sony PCV model desktop computers... For some reason Sony thought it a bright idea to keep the "C" drive partition small to make their systems run faster...problem is, they load so much stuff on to their systems, it takes all of the available "C" drive space...especially if you put any additional software applications on your system...

I tried to contact Sony for months now and they flat refuse to acknowledge a response of any type... This is the same thing I am hearing for numerous others that have Sony PCV model systems... You would think Sony would have included partition magic as a utility tool to address this issue... NOT...

It looks as though those folks that have a Sony PCV system and need to increase the "C" drive partition will have to purchase after-market partition utility software... Cordially... BZ...

Thanks for the response!
I tried calling Sony and they're so knowledgeable about their products they sell. Heck I can learn more on the internet surfing chatrooms. The rep. there told me to get out my original software and from the restore menu repartition the harddrive. However...I might lose some info. in this process. I guess that's their way of covering their own rears for selling it. I still like the ease of my Sony digital with the Sony camera, so I'm dumping all my photos' off to CD's and that freed up 2GB of memory. I'll save everything, repartition and go from there. He emailed me steps to do so if anyone else is interested in seeing if it works. LOL
Thanks again & Happy Holidays,

Linda

Hi Linda,

Sounds to me like you at least you got talk to someone that speaks english... I could not understand a word the person I talked too... I asked him where he was from and he told me Indonesia... I thought, "That's not in Texas..." Then promptly hung-up...

Looks as though we are stuck unless we reformat our hard-drive and then partition it larger than it came with from Sony...or we could try the Partition Magic software... Problems is, it too will probably ask us to format our hard-drive so it can set up the new partitions, etc...

If you would be so kind as to forward me the memo from Sony to the email address below , I would very much appreciate it...

Keep me posted if you hear anything that can help us...

Happy Holidays to you and yours...

HI William.
I gave up on any phone help when AOL started using India for their Customer service.
I have been using their online support with Sony the website is : http://esupport.sony.com/feedback/feedback.html I usually choose live chat when I have a problem.

The specific solution the agent gave me (which I haven't tried yet) is at this webpage:

http://129.33.22.7/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=443,E=0000000...obj(122893),TS=External,UseTemplate=response_case.tem

As I said before, I haven't tried it yet. I"m trying to save as much of my data as I can in the even that it does crash and reformat the whole drive. That and I wanted to wait for the holidays to be over with. LOL
Hope this helps.
Good Luck!
Linda

Hi Linda,

Not sure if you got your hard-drive partition issue resolved or not...

I went ahead and purchased the Partition Magic 8.0 software CD and it worked perfectly... Did not have to reformat or loose any data... It only took me a matter of minutes to get my "C-Drive" partition increased to whatever size I wanted...

If you have any more questions, get back with me any time...

Cordially,
