I must admit Its been some time since a igot a new phone. I was thinking of getting a Motorola V500 as it had the things i needed... Well To day a mate poped around with a new phone, so I went and got one,

I want to unlock it as its a bit of an A.. becuase there new phones.

The best thing I must say is its 2 batteries one std and one extended.. Which suit me great and it sinc's with the outlook file so even better.

I want to unlock the phone, Has any one here got any exsp, with unlocking and also where there are some good sites to get some stuff for it.

Phone support VIOPP (video over IP and Phone) blue tooth. GPS Sat nav, broard band always on @386KBs which isnt bad for a phone!! hell its a good idea for people who cant get broadband on line's

i take it you want to unlock an nec e616? bad news i'm afraid, getting them unlocked is very hard and it's pointless as all it will do is allow you to send text messages and make calls. the wap and video calls won't work, so all you'll have is a bog standard phone.

Not a bog standard phone, I can still record video, the other sim card if i get an upgrade will support video.

I have been looking at this for ages..

Im just going to pay some one to do it..

THe thing is, 3 have really disabled the phones. there good phone, but you dont get alot of services that you can normaly on their services, you get a basic package thats better than some phones, the internet is blocked.. so you cant down load your own games.. instead of buying what they have to offer- there also limited and not so good,

I am sure its against the law, as there forcing there users to buy there products so i think that they will get problems like what MS did....

I dont think GPS works on pre paid phone, Hell you could have sent your money here and I could have sent you a phone for less.

The signal doesnt seam to be great, either its the phone or mast's, mine goes on and off like whores pants, there is a beeper on the phone to say when you lossing signal and regard signal. It does need a lot of work after all 3 have been in the UK for some time, but the service reminds me of when we all call phone cells, because they were so big you could climb into the things....
Or back in the late 80's early 90's (just like on the malbu advert)

I think that 3 pay is changing soon, and there going to offer more services that are on the bill me service.

I think thye may get regulated soon as they are captive and over priced. offering a poor to resonable service.

Maybe the NEC e616V Phone doesn't have such a good signal because the antenna is INSIDE the phone.

LG U8120 has similar size and features, but an EXTERNAL antenna.

I wonder if it has everywhere a better signal?

Can any tell me how I can upload files from my laptop to the phone and vice versa. I have tried it several times and the message I always get is that my phone database is locked. And want to find out if it is possible to move files or folders from the handset memory to the memory stick duo.

You have to switch on the data transfer,

Menu 7.

then select the Card or phone, and the USB or what ever

thats it phone will display a "waiting for data" message

Use the software that came with the phone (some files will not show up) tools on aussie3g.com

I have one of these phones, and although the coverage isn't great, the Government (of the UK) have rules laid down saying there must be equal coverage by late 2005. Which would be great.

I love the phone, the price, the tarriff and the features on it. However, I am having trouble making videos and mp3s for it.

Do any of you good people have any ideas on making mp4s and mp3s that will play on the NEC e616v?

Many thanks in advance of any helpful suggestions

to answer both of these in one,,
the credit that you buy, say 15 gets you 10 call credit and then 5 credit to send on the 3 networks over priced games and video and such like, -- I did notice that the free stuff applies to nearly every thing on the phone that you would want--. When crediting your Phone there is options for you to pick from and the 5.00 add everything that will give you some other things yo may want

Storage when storing stuff on your Phone make sure it recoreded to the memory card that comes with the phone as there is twice as much storage ( some people were sold the phone with out the cards that it should have came with)
Because of the types of files and the "walled garden" it can be hard to add and remove file on and off of the phone, down loaded games will not download of that would mean you could load them to your phone lossing them money.. (i have 600 Phone games which i cannot use), I think most of the video will not transfer also.

You must remember anything that makes 3 any money will not be avaiable on your phone,
I would hope to see some cracked software that will allow access to your phones full software so that you can get stuff on and off the phone but there isnt anything in the pipes as far as I know, check the links from this topic as they may have just what you need.

i had this phne 4 xmas and on boxing day it boke and we had to take it back. the person in woolworths said a lot of them had been breaking, but they gave me a new one anyway! it has been working fine now and i havent had any problems with it but i would like to know how on earth do i get the file transfer working so i can get my photos and videos onto my pc. i installedit on windows 200 and it said i needed hte drivers but i coudnt work out how to get the drivers onto my pc-i installed everything else so how the HELL do i do it.

secondly is there anyway that i can unlock my phone and still have all the featurs i have on it now like video, camera n that sort of stuff, but use my own simcard, beacuse its a bit much having to pay 15 = pounds when i dont actually use things lkike the video calls or the mini movies i just use it 4 txting n normal phone calls, picture messaging and stuff like that! or is there anyway in which i dont have to pay the 15 = pound a month?

hope you can help
