Technically LCD's could run at less than 1ms, as the technology improves they will get faster. Not that you can see the difference, the human eye see's an image approx every 40ms.

If we only see 40ms, then how come we see ghosting on 25ms screens, hrmmmm? I know the response rate tends to slow down, but I don't think it drops past 40ms.

Sincerely,
Kash

Ghosting is usually due to RF intereference in the cables, not an issue with the response times or anything like that.

We can and will have screens with response times less than 1ms. Remember when TVs were first made and all the geeks thought "Oh my! Imagine if the refresh rates could be higher than 60Hz!" 20 years later somebody invented LCD :)

As soon as everything goes over to OLED with analog hardware backing the digital framebuffers, the repsonse times will never be an issue again.

OLED screens are amazing! I can't wait until they go mainstream. My Japanese friend has an OLED handheld portable movie player, and the picture is simply...stunning. Better than the best plasma TVs I have seen.

You cant get 1Ms because the liquids have to charge and dicharge, you may see some 4MS in the future, unless they change things radically.
Ive seen plent @ 10Ms (hence why I sell them) Ive not seen the 8's out, But I havent really been looking as I know the ones I have are good.

Rory, what part of OLED don't you understand ;)
Organic Light Emitting Diode = no charge time for crystals to polarize, it goes directly from on to off like a little [organic] lightbulb.

Hey Jeff I been doing a lot of homework lately! Some time when you're in WestPark call me we gotta chill and you gotta meet these awesome chicks :)

Later!

OLED displays are horrible!
They are not even first gen
they do not last long
they are expensive as hell
and they do not look anywhere near as good as lcds yet, let alone crts.

Man, I hate when people just praise new technology because it's new and cool.
CRTs still offer the highest resolutions and fastest refresh rates, best contrast rations, great brightness, greta price, and etc.

PLASMA is CRAP. Never buy one.
LCDs are slowly getting better.
And OLED is A LONG WAYS OFF before it becomes practical to put it on the market.
They're ismply not ready, and they may never BE ready.

And yes, the human eye can detect things far quicker than 1 ms.

I was still talking about the topic, sry.
But as your talking about organics, what about degrading issues.. and there still is charging times, as organics seam to run slower in alot of cases, Ive not looked into it, Got any links??

Off topic, anyone remember the Organic brain plug, so you can plug yourself into your PC..

One point, LCD were /are made from carrots anyway, Brit invention.. how he found out we'll never know make a new meaning to why carrots are good for your eyes..

The OLEDs actually have a projected lifespan of 50+ years of continual use, and the image is so much better than anything you've ever seen. Screenshots don't do them justice. You really have to see it to believe it.

Read and learn, kids. This stuff will take over the world some day soon. Heil OLED, mein fuhrer!
