Computer was working fine this morning. I put it in the standby mode while I was out. When I came back home I powered it back up and the monitor said there was no signal from the video card. I turned off the computer and turned it back on again and everything was working fine for a few seconds, then I lost the signal again. Since then it hasn't worked at all. When I power up I can hear the fans starting and everything seems to power up fine however I can't hear the usual crunching sound made when the computer boots up. Just sounds like its hanging. When I remove the video card and boot up it sounds like it is booting up normally. Anyone know what could be happening? I'm assuming it's a video card problem but I don't have another AGP card to test with. I know it's not the monitor. Could it be a motherboard issue? I hope not, don't know the slightest thing about motherboards =).

Oh yeah and is there any way of logging into windows xp blind so I can access the computer over the network to get some pretty important files??

Thanks for any help.

Went through it with a tech support guy and determined it's the video card.

ive had that happen before, sometimes if you wait it seems to work (i have my suspicions that something is loose or not plugged in properly)

what did the technician say about the video card?

perhaps the problem is a loose connection in the monitor. you might want to check this with another monitor. usually pc components are of a high quatity anyway. so you may want to just check the cable.

good luck

I had this with a brand new KT7A mboard. The slot was so sensitive about how the card was installed I changed the mboard to a different make as these forums show a lot of these problems with that mboard.

Paul.

I installed a P200 in a socket 7 board and all was fine. i had removed a cyrix 200 that was real slow. I had it working real nice at 210mhz. I installed a second hardrive to try and get some info off it, but it would not read/boot/recognize. I removed it and now i only get the noise of hardrive trying to start, but not much. No video signal and keyboard just flashes for an instant, than nothing. I tried removing cards and restart, no differance. Tried diff video card, no good. So my goal was to put a 233mhz MMX in a diff board, so i figured I would do that. changed everythingand lo & behold it's doing the same thing! Any ideas?

Hello, my ABIT KX7-333 is doing this very same thing!! I have tried replacing everything, and it still continues to do it!

What did you find as a solution to this problem? Did you have to install your vid-card a certain way?

Please help!!!!

Well. it's real strange. i removed piece by piece and didn't seem to make a diff. I just put everything back in, as was and it booted fine. been fine since. All I can put solution to was video card not quite in or dirty.I did clean contacts before I reinstalled. Sorry I don't have a definative answer

I wish I could say the same!!! I have taken mine apart and put back together at least 6 times!! I saw a trick somwhere else to use rubber, or paper washers to keep from grounding your motherboard, I am going to try that, as I am really running out of options!
