KT7-RAID system suddenly won't post after good 9 mos.

My KT7-RAID system recently began to drop to a black screen with no video signal at odd times, seemingly at random... every few days, maybe.

Several days ago, it began to do so with every boot, although at varying times... sometimes right away (no POST), other times mid-POST, after 5 minutes, or after 15 minutes.

Now, the system will not POST. Power comes on, fans and drives spin up, but no video signal (black screen). Will not POST even with nothing in the system but a video card. I have tried many approaches: cycled components, alternated between a PCI and AGP video card, swapped in new PSU and RAM, disconnected all drives (RAID, IDE, CDROM and CDR/W) and completely took apart and rebuilt the system, even reseating the CPU.

My assumption at this point is that the mobo is toast. Any suggestions?

- Brian

I think you're right Brian, the mobo sounds dead. Hard to say why, but I've had that happen before, once just last week on someone else's in fact. I would say they do normally go straight away however.

As for your RAID issue in the other thread, I'm afraid I don't actually know for sure, but I would guess you can transfer over to a new system as long as you're not changing the RAID configuration. Someone else here will probably know for sure. You may as well try it, what choice do you have now that the old mobo is probably dead? ;)

How do you know that the CPU isn't toast?

do you have another CPU that will fit into that mobo it could be the cpu that went and not the mobo, it could be one or the other and if your really unlucky both. :(

My point, exactly.

Was there any indication that it was the mobo and not the CPU?
