Sanders these H/S are really looking like a good alternative to water cooling.I wish you could have thrown in a 2500+ and P4 3.0 478 socket and OCed them a abit just to see what these 2 H/S could do with them.My Tt Polo735 keeps my cpu under 42c but man it sounds like a hairdryer thats on high when i put it at 5600rpm..

i was going to go for a big fancy cooler but ended up getting a Thermaltake TR2-M12 it was cheap as chips (£9 i think) and keeps my P4 3.06 at 38c idle / 50c load compared to stock which had it running at upto 60c load. A very good cooler for the money and very quiet too.

EDIT: Id also like to know how arctic cooling's new line perform if anyone has one.

Only Concern I have is the size. 120mm Fans?!? That has to take up some space.

I Have a Thermaltake Venus 12 CPU Cooler on my AMD64 3200+. When I slid my 6800GT in my Case next to that, the space between dropped conciderably.

With an 120mm Fan on the CPU, is there any worries GPU and CPU fans will be comming to close?
They Both need room to breath, an have proper air flow.

I have a question about the fans in the testing (and those mentioned by the other posts). What technology is used in these fans? Brush, Brushless, etc. I have had problems over the years with fan failure and I find brush dies fast for me. Any input here?

All fans used in PCs over the past decade are brushless.

Yea, how do they handle temps with oced processors?
And this thermaltake sounds like a 747 when I bump it up to 6000rpm. It's getting a bit old now..

If it handles a 3.6GHz Prescott, as detailed in the review, any overclocked processor will run cool and quiet. There's not many CPUs that generate as much heat as a 3.6GHz Prescott, as you can see the Athlon 64 FX55 runs a whole lot cooler.

How does the CNPS7700-ALCU (rather than -CU) version compare to this one? I've heard it's not as great, but I was wondering how much difference there really is.

Probably only 1 or 2 degrees, but the ALCU version is much, much lighter. The CU is 2 pounds!

There is a mobo compatibility chart for the 7700-CU on the Zalman website.

I have a notebook Sony PCG-K35 mobile Pentium 4 at 3.06 Ghz which is very noisy, What kind of noise reducer can I install? filter? system cooling? fan silencers? etc.

I have tried almost everything available on the system to reduce the noise of the fan but nothing has worked out yet.

Thanks a lot,
