Well I tried setting the timing to T1 and I still get the blue screen during setup.

Here's the error I get:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Then its talks about check for viruses and check hard drives and some other things.

At the bottom is says:

Technical information:
STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7C7A524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

Also to note, I have 2 hard drives and one has been formatted using the software from the Maxtor website that I will put Windows on and the other drive has files on it from my other pc that I took the hard drives out of. Does this have anything to do with it. I don't have them configured as a RAID setup, do I need to? If I do can I configure them to show as 2 seperate drives on Windows? I never have configured a computer in a RAID setup so any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cody

Do you have NTune installed on your computer?
What drivers are you using for your video card?

I can help you get through this if you stick with me on it.

Mike

Ok, using this driver is fine.

1- Open NVPerformance.exe
2- Under Auto Tuning choose best graphics performance.

This will take a few minutes and your computer will probably restart on it's own but it will resume and prompt you to continue with the auto tuning. This can happen a few times. When complete save the profile as test1 or something, but make sure you save it.

I will guide you after this.

MARK:

A low 3Dmark score can happen from:

-Not running the default benchmark (did you change the resolution?)
-If you turn on AA or AS your gonna get a low score! ;)
-If you run DUAL monitors and run the benchmark with both monitors setup in your display properties you will get a low score! (This one killed me on my previous system on low FPS in Doom 3 :) )

If its not one of those post up and I'll throw more ideas at you!

How do you keep your RAM at DDR400 while increasing your CPU speed? Is there a way to lock the RAM speed while increasing the CPU speed? I don't see how on this board.......I'm flashing to the 1004 beta BIOS to see if its an option within it.

Todd,

I'm running 1004.001 and there is no such settings. CPU, Ram, FSB are directly proportional to one another, you cannot lock the Ram speed while increasing the CPU speed.

Thanks for the reply Kariage.

I'm beginning to get frustrated with this motherboard. I've been working with this pc since saturday and still haven't got Windows XP installed on it. I get one problem solved and I get another LOL. Well I finally got past the blue screen crash after I decided to install the Silicon 3114 SATA controller drivers during Windows setup. So after I select what hard drive I want Windows on and it finishes installing the inital files on the hard drive it restarts the computer and then I get:

"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information."

I still haven't seen the graphical part of the Windows installation where it shows you the estimated time for installing Windows.

WOOHOO finally got Windows installed. Decided to retry my SATA DVD drive on the NVidia SATA chipset and it worked. The first time I connected my DVD drive to it, it wouldn't show up in the bios so that was when I decided to connect it to the Silicon 3114 controller.

Thanks for the configuration by Sander and the helpful info from everyone.

Mike et al,

Appreciate the feedback, but try to be short, to the point and clear about what settings you use. I've seen multiple posts with different settings so it is hard to determine who used what and what works and what doesn't.

***FAQ UPDATE***

I just updated the FAQ again to include the new drivers, 71.81 WHQL, which were posted yesterday. Although not officially supported these indeed fix a number of issues, including strange image quality and overlay glitches in FarCry. I'd recommend you install these as the WHQL certification is a big plus in terms of stability and compatibility.

I've also tested the PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 SLI powersupply and I'm truely impressed, this PSU is simply the best money can buy. I'll do a full featured review of this PSU soon and compare to other >500watts models, but if you're serious about SLI or building another high-end PC this is THE PSU to buy, no other PSU even comes close.
