Ok here are the notes from uploading and using BIOS 9.002 Beta....

Someone has to be stupid enough to do it... :)

1. in DRAM there is a new option

S/W DRAM over 4GB Remapping - Auto/Disable - basically if you have more than 4GB move all software above 4GB if possible so OS can run below the line - ahhhh - this reminds me of when I used to do the same thing as an IBM MVS Systems Programmer when OS/390 first came out...nothing now is new...

2. PCI VGA Palette Snoop has disappeared - at last - I mean since when are you going to get a mobo like this and use PCI video cards?

3. in SLI Configuration

two new options (which may change I suppose)

SLI Broadcast Apperture - ?? and
AI Selector - same as SLI Mode I think.

WARNING - doing this is up to you I can afford the time to rebuild - do it at your own risk and only if you believe you need it...

This BIOS might also have the FX57 Dual Core capability.... got my order in already

regards
Sean

Mike,

Thanks for your help so far !! ;-)

>The reset I mean is to set settings and leave defaults (things you don't need to set).
>In order to do this you need to power down, remove the battery, and set the CLRTC RAM jumper to pins 2 >& 3 form 1 & 2 and then back again after 10 seconds.
Done that after every hardware change, doesn't seem to make a difference.

>It would be nice to hear about the PCI Slot card thing. Once you do this I will be able to help you further.
With a simple PCI videocard I have exactly the same problem !!

Considering the system freezes and doesn't do much but after a minute or 15. I am really thinking of something that is overheating. But the temps in the bios are fine (CPU 30-33 en MOBO 28 degrees). The fan on the motherbord is spinning as wel as the fan on the CPU (doh).... so that all seems to be fine.

Any other suggestions?

Aino,
It could be the Maxtor HDD. Many people, including myself, have had problems with these. The problem was with the DiamondMax Plus 9 series SATA drives as they were converted IDE's or something to that effect. If yours is part of this series you may want to consider trying another drive before RMAing the board.

Thanks man, i did not think of that yet :)

I only bought this s-ata coz I had no luck with any of my IDE/ ata disks... I blamed them for my 1st bluescreenz...

Hmmz, shops are closed :s

I just updated my mb to 1008, hoping that it will fix it, currently at format #57 :D

Roth Mans

Now that you have checked the video by putting in a standard PCI Slot card, you just ruled out many things. I would try a different PSU. I know about PSU capabilities, and I'm sure yours is fine but, there are other things that a power supply can do that could corrupt system startup/performance. Also try a different HD, Optical device and stick of RAM. Don't use any USB devices. If after this you have the same problem, there is really nothing left to do but to RMA the board as you tried just about everything to get it to work.

Well i've been looking for the solution to my XP 64bit drivers problem for some time now & at last i find a place where 'a lot' other people seem to share this same poor experience. I just doesn't feel right when a quite expensive system, thougth from the start as a 64bit system & sold as such isn't capable of functionning correctly, moreover 6 months or so after the initial release... so as things are going very fast in this business, by the time one gets full functionality the system is already obsolete. Is it really worth it???

This thread has grown huge & after over 3 hours of browsing here i still haven't found a clear answer to my problem. It seems some people have been able to get the audio adapter's & other missing components' drivers installed on Windows 64.

It would be great if someone could report the needed steps

Regard searching just this forum, I found this back somewhere in the early pages...

Use Google. In the search box, enter:

site:http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/38623/ "raid-5"

for example to search all entries with raid 5 in them.

Works too!

Google Avanced Search
http://www.google.ca/advanced_search?
If you go here and type 2 Channel sound in the Find Results section
or at the end of the ? in the link you add q=2%Channel%sound (Remember the % between words)
http://www.google.ca/advanced_search?q=2%Channel%sound
AND add
http://hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/38623/ in the Domain section, you will find exactly what you are looking for. You can also change the amount of results.

"Ok here are the notes from uploading and using BIOS 9.002 Beta....

Sean

Do you use Probe? If so does it work?

I was stupid enough to try the 8.001 Beta.

It screwed up Probe and my system. On reboot it started cascading error messages. Had to use task manager to stop it. It also screwed something else up and I finally had to reformat and reinstall windows.

Probe will still not work after reverting back to the latest non Beta (007). This is with a clean install and only enough drivers to get windows to run.

I am not the only one with this problem as quite a few have posted on several forums about this.

You're welcome to come and chat, better than going back and forth here. I wouldn't want to be blamed for being off topic or spamming. It is Friday the 13th, maybe I would be preventing something else like having someone come after me with a chainsaw. lol

Yeah !! Thanks for spamming.... I also see posts with no message in it at all Mike? weird...

My Advise to people with probs with this board:

- Whatever people tell you here about power, don't listen to it, if the lights come on, you have power...
- If you have a matched pair of dimmz, you can use both, (in a1 & b1 slots), some people say you should just use the one stick in b1, well yeah, if you have only one...

* What works for me, or works best for me:

Do a new windows install, complete format, using F6 to install the Sil 32 driver. The system might crash during the install because I forgot to pull out my USB mouse. That is not nice but I just reboot then, untill it's finished. Then I insert the original CD that came with the board to get rid of the yellow triangles in the device manager.
This works for me...

Well I suppose I should update now...
