Sean,

I ran the Super_PI and got all the way up to 32MB with no problem. I also set my Memory voltage up to 2.9 and I still have the problem with HL2.

Thanks for the help.

>> SLi Problems with dual xfx 6600 GT rig
Well here are my specs
AMD Athlon 64 3800+
1GB kingston ddr400 ram
160GB Sata hdd
2 x XFX Geforce 6600 GT's
Asus a8n-sli, flashed to latest bios

I was unable to get the 6600 GT's to run in sli with the latest 71.84 or 71.89 drivers. I would'nt be able to enable it, that checkbox thingy dissapears and i get a message to remove incompalible hardware.
BUT I was able to enabe SLI with the 66.3 forceware drivers. I flashed my mobo bios to the latest version too, still it didn't work.
I got frustrated so I got the two 6600 GT's replaced with one 6800GT (Will be arriving on tuesday)

Now if I want to added another 6800GT in the near future, I hope that I won't have this same problem. Could it be my motherboard? OR what? I need to know what the problem is, and what is its solution.

Cheers,
Billy

Thanks

Mike :)

I just bought one of these MB's and installed it today. I noticed that the 1394_2 pins on my MB didn't match up with the picture in the manual either. I bought a Themaltake case that has a 1394 port on the top of the case so I just followed the pin layout on the MB, hooked it up and it works fine.

FWI - The pin layout for my extra USB ports 5 through 10 are not the same as the picture in the manual either.

Is that the premium board you got there or something? I don't understand why some boards are different!

New BIOS out ->1008

I noticed this on the ASUS site. Anyone installed it? If so, any problems to report or did it go well?

Thanks

1008 works, erm well i'd even say it's an improvement :)

I think you should ask asus about that firewire at the wrong spot, but hey, if it works, who cares ;)

Help..Decided to try and install the Windows XP Pro x64 edition. The makedisk.exe from the 64bit chipset drivers does not contain nvata.cat and nvraid.cat files. The Windows installation process complains they are missing. I copied the files from the XP directory. The installation went fine, however, the machine will not boot up into windows. I call ASUS and they were totally clueless that these were missing. I still have a feeling it is the nvidia raid drivers causing the problem.

I built this with an ide hd to get every thing up and running, 4 months.
Now I want to try a sata hd to boot from(single for now, no raid) I
disconnected my ide hd and setup my sata hd on the sata1 (black connector)
go into the bios and it sees it fine and set to boot first, Go to install
winxp and partion and format the drive, goes thru the install fine then reboots
and comes up ( failed to load os ). Someone tells me to try the f6 thing,
is this needed? I did try but the same thing happenes. Installed my ide
drive and checked out the sata drive and everything looks like it installed
fine, I can see the drive and contents in windows and in the bios.
I have tried this a few times with different bios files and also tried a
disk copy but still nothing.

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe mb - bios 1009-002 beta
6800gt 256meg (1 for now)
1 gig pc3200 (2x512)
80 gig sata hd
80 gig ide hd

haya

I had the same problem...

when using 1 s-ata, so no raid, you need to go into your BIOS and disable the "Silicon Sata Controller, somewhere under Onboard Device Configuration menu thingy...

oh and forget the f6, you should not need it

good luck mate

>>>Disable all RAID, NV and SIL (but you don't need to disable the SIL if your drive is on the NV SATA1, it will still boot if you do the following) NVRAID must be disabled for one drive and non RAID applications.
>>>In the BIOS under Boot Menu Hard Disk Drives, make sure the drive you wish to boot from is listed First.
ie-Primary SATA Master etc.
Your drive will be listed in the main window under Primary SATA Dirve.

Someone tells me to try the f6 thing,
is this needed?
>>>No, but it wont hurt anything if they are.

You can have both the IDE and SATA installed but as I said, you need to specify In the BIOS under Boot Menu, the Hard Disk Drive you wan't to boot from. If you don't use RAID, NV RAID should be off, and if you do use RAID, the only drives that should be enable in the NVRAID section should be equivalent to what you have installed and where ie 2 drives-SATA1 and SATA2, SATA3 and 4 off.

What I dont under stand is I see it in bios and it runs setup to install windows then reboots and says ( failed to load os ) I install my other drive and I can see sata drive and access it and see the files that setup installed.
Going to try the f6 thing again after I read to see what files are needed, heres what i do see in device manager
under ide controllers is 2 nvidia nForce4 adma controller and 1 nvidia nForce4 Parallel ata controller, Shouldn't there be one for the serial ata ? Thought I read something on that before I got my drive. If so what did I miss?
