@Raf H
How high have you run the memory voltage up to ? you may be able to get it stable with higher voltage.
also what bios are you useing ? I've had better luck with two dimm memory on the older bios 1004.

For those of you who dont know already: New BETA Standalone drivers are available! VER 7.11

Max I tried was 2.85V within the corsair warranty limits.

Tried 1007 and the new beta bios, same results with both. Nforce drivers wont make a difference as it gets errors on memtest with 1T at a high memclock.

What experience have you had with overclocking this board?

im running about a 5% overclock across the board (210mhz fsb/105mhz pci-e) in bios at the moment with 1004 bios and
DDRAM 2x512MB| OCZ4001024ELDCPER2-K 2.2.2.5 @2.8volt 1T about 420mhz
Ive had it all the way up to 440mhz without problems useing ntune but I prefer to just overclock in bios.
and i havent clocked beyond where my 3500+ will run at stock voltage.

my OCZ memory uses the winbond chips so i can run it up to 2.9volt and ive heard of people running it all the way up to 3.7volt but Im not going to try it ;)

Yeah I can get those speeds with 1T not a problem, it's when I reach around 240Mhz it just can't handle it :(

J Buckler

I had similar odd experiences with a powercolor bravo x800 and smilar setup. One issues was that the plug for the dvi to vga adapter was so large it twisted the card because it touched my antec p160 case. Trial and error reinstalls got it working. (It always worked fine outside the case).

It now works better with a dvi to a new Dell 1905fp lcd - which is terrific.

Alas, I still get some odd bsods at boot, but restart corrects. Don't give up hope.

"The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume..."

I get NTFS errors about once a week.

All of my drives are nforce SATA, my system disk is 2 WD raptors IIs in a RAID 1, and I have 2 Maxtor D10 300s not in a RAID. As I said, I get NTFS errors about once a week -- usually on one or other of the Maxtors, but I've had a couple of errors on the WD RAID 1.

My computer is not overclocked, my HDs run about 35-37 degrees, I replaced my stock chipset fan with a vantec iceberq. Maybe the vantec doesn't cool the northbridge enough?

Any other ideas?

Hi,

I got the AC97 Audio to work in windows XP 64bit by installing the Nvidia nforce drivers package (click the audioninstall option). Realtek have also posted a set of drivers on their site (

The nivdia drivers worked a treat and the sound quality was better than the realtek drivers in xp32.

Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
Realtek: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.aspx?lineid=5&...tware=True

Hope this is of some help

Seems I'm experiencing the same issues as Phil to some degree.

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
AMD FX-55
2 Kingston 1gB HyperX PC3200
2 WD 74 gB Raptors (SATA)
2 GB 6800 256 Ultras
Enermax Noisetaker 600wt.
Audigy2 ZS PlatPro

Neck in neck with Phil on the whole update process.
Unlike the majority of the "mirrors" of this particular problem I'm finding, my puter won't turn on period.
Was playing Silent Hunter III for near 6 hours when the speakers made really high pitched game sound with white noise & everything shut down. Wouldn't come back on afterwards.
I've had the system for about 40 +/- days now with no problems up to this failure.

Did the usual checks on everything. Outlets fine, UPS good, surges unchanged, no power fluxes.
My mobo gets the green light for the 5v detection, so it's getting that portion of power feed at least.
Hit the power switch, and the computer and I just stare at eachother in silence. Nothing happens.
Unplugged each component group, exchanged RAM, removed cards, re-removed and placed cards, so on and so forth as expected. No changes. Only thing I haven't done is change PSU, mobo, or processor ('cause I don't have those particular spares lying around). Not that any of it matters, since it does not seem to get any power to the board.

At this point I figure it's one of 3 things:
mobo somehow fried a component on me,
PSU is only partially functional (but not enough to do me any good),
or the most irritating: my power switch to the board just happen to quit working after the PC quit
(and me with no more spare parts :( I'm not desperate enough yet to start messing around with a shortcut for this yet.

If it's not one of those 3, then it's one of those anomalies that we've all come across or heard about from time to time and I'll count myself lucky it's all still under the warranty window. Still aggravating though.
At this point, I'm just praying all my other components weren't affected by the sudden ... whatever it was.

Raf

You are right about the 1T/2T problem. It have been posted here previously about this problem.
Someone did mention that this was going to be fixed with an upcoming bios upgrade.
I have still seen no upgrade to fix this.

I am to struggeling with this problem. Currently running Corsair TwinX-4400 at 2,5-4-4-8 288MHz.
Hopfully som very intelligent person out there have the answer.
If not we are stuck at 2T.

Also, with the above system, what score should I be looking for in 3dmark05?

I can only seem to get around 5700 overclockign the vid card. I'd try following the guide on page 16 but i can't get them damn programs to install :|

>> Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe NForce 4 SATA Trouble
Ok.. I've read through many of the pages, but not all. I've got a new system I just built using the mobo with:

Antec Truepower 480
Leadtek Geforce 6800 GT
Creative Soundblaster Gamer
Plextor 716 A
2 Seagate ST3160827AS SATA Barracuda 160 GB drives
AMD 3200 64 (standard cooling)
Chieftec case

Everything fit perfect initially. The case mounts the drives from the side except the SATA cables slightly touch the side of the case. I used the asus red cables for the sata drives. I've used scsi in the past, so my thinking was- save some $$ and use the new SATA drives for XP, and have additional drives for software (CAD, Photoshop) and one drive for games so that the system would run fast.

Upon XP (service pack 2) installation, XP recognized both HD's without drivers as I installed them on SATA ports 1 and 2. During the NTFS format of drive 1, it stopped and said there was a format error. Not long after that, the hard drive started clicking like a clock (repetitive- which I interpreted as it was unresponsive). After seagate tools- I determined it a fautly drive (it also didn't always show on Bios) and I RMA'd it.

I installed SATA drive 2 on SATA port 1, and installed XP without a hitch. The second morning, I booted up the pc and it listed a boot error. Upon further investigation, I could not get XP to boot. I then tried reformatting the drive, using seatools, etc. Now the 2nd drive is make that notorious unresponsive sound. A few harsh words later I am getting to RMA this second drive. I've tried zero filling it, etc. Also- Bios doesn't always recognize this drive now..

Seagate told me I had to load the Nforce 4 Sata controller driver upon initial XP installation. However- that doesn't work. There are no XP install ready drivers- besides- XP recognizes the hard drive without the driver. The power supply is ok. How could 2 new HD's go bad like that? I'm confused! Does XP not like installing itself on SATA drives?

Now that I have some downtime and await the new RMA drives, I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and use the SATA raid instead. I want XP on 1 drive, and music on another, and software/games on another- thinking the pc will perform better that way. Will raid suit me better for that purpose.

And why have 2 drives failed? Could it be a mobo problem, or is this a freak accident?

I can get it at 255 with 2.5-3-3-5 1T, it seems to be stable even on prime 95 but some games crashes, like battlefield vietnam.

still need to tweak it more.
