Rookie 1

Disable NVRAID (Black Connectors) in the BIOS and disable the SILRAID (Red Connectors). Put your Drive on NV RAID SATA 1, reboot then the drive will now show up in the MAIN BIOS window under 1st SATA Master, "no RAID enabled anywhere" as you do not have a RAID system. You will most likely need to reformat the drive as there is meta data on there making windows think that it's on the SIL.

If you follow my instructions it should work..

Ethereal Power

Cheers for reply and motivation Mike! I will try to change some of the settings, its funny because when I connect the router to the Marvell adapter, I get the LAN connection status to "Connected", though when connecting to the NV LAN I get the Status to Connected plus another Connection appears called "internet connection" which is set to disabled .. I tried to enable it, which then allowed me to connect with NV, but then the connection was dropped after some time
>Usually an indication that you have a phone running off the same line and it doesn't have a filter.

.. I will look into this and post a reply when I get somewhere!

1011 Bios Error

Ive just updated my bios with the Asus a8n 1011 and it caused my system to crash. It would
load the start of windows and reset as tho it was a memory Error(blue Screen). i reloaded with the previous beta version and its been fine since.

Id avoid it as it caused only problems for me in default settings and overclocked.

4QMan-
I agree, the 1011 BIOS is p**s poor and I would recommend that most stay with the 1008. BTW this BIOS was released about the same time that Asus' website went to garbage.

Mike, Can you help me with this????

Hi guys. Im having a weird problem. My hardware:
Athlon64 3700+ 1MB Cache 2200MHz
A8N-SLI Deluxe
MSI X850XT Platinum Edition
2xGB DDR400 Kingston (4x512)
1xRaptor 74Gb
2xSeagate 300Gb
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS (disconnected)
Thermaltake 480W Silent PurePower
First BIOS -> 1007. Upgraded to 1011 and same problem.

All my Hard Drives are connected to the Silicon with NO RAID. Just JBOD.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
When Im using Windows, Internet, E-mail, etc, ... Everything is fine, but when Im running Games, the computer always freeze. Sometime in about 5 minutes, sometimes in 2 hours....
I've tryed the MSI video Drivers and the ATI Driver. Same thing.
I have the latest Nforce drivers (6.53).
I've tryed running with my SB and the onboard Audio. Same problem!
When Im running 3DMark 2005, it DOESNT freeze, and I got a 5980 score.
Any suggestions????
I appreciate it,
Ron

I would bet that it has somthing to do with your RAM. What settings are you running? AMD -64 CPU's cannot utilize all 4 RAM slots at DDR 400 speeds when the 4 slots are filled with dual sided DIMMs (which 512 DIMMs are) You'll probably have to decreae speeds to 333MHZ and 2T timing (Mike can help you more with this as he has gotten the best speeds out of the 4 DIMM scenario).. Alternatively you can try 1GB of RAM in 2x512 configuration at 400MHZ DDR, best speeds, with DIMMs in just the blue slots (A1 B1). Give one of thses a shot and see if it clears up the problem and if so you can start experimenting with the best timings with the most RAM. Mike made an extensive post re. this a while ago.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mike can you help me????

Marvin Man-
So everything is good until you install what piece of gear? In other words, at what point does the system stop posting? Is it when you install the RAM, the hard drive or what? And yes I would expect that the PSU is probably not going to work with your setup as I couldn't even get specs on it from a google search. SLI mobos are notoriously sensitive to power problems and require a fairly high quality supply. Sander has a list of acceptable supplies on the first page and I have had luck with the Fortron Blue Storm 500. Get a ATX 2.0 24 pin power plug, a PCI express power plug and 2 SATA drive power plugs as standard with 400 watts and 12v @ 20 amps. These are the MINIMUM specs I would look for and would suggest 450 watts with dual 12 volt rails at around 30 amps combined as a better solution.

It does not POST or give me a screen when I install everything. It started POSTing when I took out the RAM. When I put it back in, it gave me nothing.

I will have to go check out the power supplies.

I'm so glad other people are having the same problem.

I feel like crap. But I feel less like crap because other people are in the same boat as I am. These corsair bastards are lying to us...i bought cmx 512 3200c2 memory for my a8n sli deluxe mobo, i'm getting that same damn "system failed memory test", "system failed memory test", "system failed memory test", "system failed memory test", "system failed memory test", "system failed memory test", "system failed memory test", "system failed memory test", "system failed memory test", I'm so TIRED of hearing it! tried all combination of banks.

this sucks major ass. I don't know what to do. I think I'm going to try some Crucial ram, they're f**king great,

Hey, no problem Mike.

I'm not there yet, though it is MUCH more stable than it was (just this strange instability in IE when I first switch on - sometimes!). Perhaps we can get back at it over the weekend or next week.

Take care and thanks,

Iain

Bios Problems With 1012.001 & 1011

Ive tried these both now and spent ages trying to get them both to work with no luck at all. I think Asus
are trying so hard to fix this T1 problem that they are bringing out unstable Bios updates.

Maybe they know the problem and are so close to fixing it altho they just cant get the bios sable
with the fix in place. Who know's maybe not?.

>> Processor choice
Hello everyone! I had posted a while back with a question about setting up two RAID arrays (Sander - many thanks for your prompt and thorough response!). I'm still in the process of assembling parts but am at the critical stage of selecting the processor. I had originally intended to utilize the FX-55 Claw Hammer but when I recently returned to Newegg's website I found myself confronted with the newer FX-55 San Diego based upon the newer 90nm process. I've tried researching the differences but thus far the information's pretty sketchy. Some folks have reported having RAM issues in that the chip doesn't like more than a gig of memory while others scoff at this. Has anyone in the forum used this CPU in their setup? Any help in my making a choice greatly appreciated.

Also - please provide feedback on the parts I've assembled thus far:

Thermaltake Armor tower case
Corsair 2 gigs of CMX512-3200XLPRO DDR 400 (4 sticks x 512 meg)
Koolance Exos 2 liquid cooling with water blocks for the CPU, graphics cards and northbridge chipset
BFG 6800 Ultra graphics cards - 2 each
PC Power & Cooling 510SLI power supply
Sony DRU-720A DVD burner
Dell 2005FPW wide aspect 20.1" monitor

Planned to purchase:

Western Digital 74 gig Raptors - 2 each for one RAID 0 array
Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300 gig - 2 each for second RAID array
Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Pro soundcard
Linksys WMP-54GS wireless NIC

Many thanks for any and all input. Stay safe.

I'll be playing WoW and the screen will go black and I'll get the "System Failed VGA Test" error. The comp runs fine when not playing games, and the temperatures are very good most times (Especially video card and CPU, MOBO can get up to 42 degrees during games, but while browsing net its usually at 40). I've contacted Nvidia and they don't believe it's their product just because of the low temps. And I don't think it's a PSU problem because well, thats a kickass PSU.
