Niel,

There on my PSU there are 2 4pin connectors that have P4 on them. When i plug
the incorrect one in it will not do anythink as yours does. Have you tried both?

I'm having problems getting SLI working. Here is a list my specs:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
Athlon 64 3200+
2GB Corsair Memory
2 EVGA GF6600GT Video Cards
Sound Blaster Audigy

I have read many of the posts on the forum and have tried a number of different suggestions. So far I have tried:
Installed 66.73 Video Drivers
Instlled 71.89 Video drivers (Currently running 77.72)
Flashed BIOS to 1011 from 1002. Then reflashed to 1008 because of suggestions on the threads.
Updated chipset to 6.66.
Reseated EZ Chip several times (think it's working because, in the display properties it shows the PCIE bus at 8x).
Reseated bridge connector several times.
Tried both cards individually. They both work fine by themselves.
I purchased the cards at different times, but I checked to make sure that the part numbers on the cards and the BIOS's matched. They do.
Device Manager recognizes both cards when installed. Primary card has IRQ 18 and second card has IRQ 19.
Initially, when I installed both cards, I had 3 displays available but after uninstalling and installing different drivers that has gone away.
I tried numerous combinations in the MB BIOS dealing with the SLI with no change. Now all set to Auto.
I have not formatted and reinstalled windows. I would prefer to do that as a last resort.

I knew I would have problems, always do, but didn't realize that it would be this difficult. Until I read this thread. Please help.

Fred-
Leave 1008 as the BIOS. First reset the CMOS/BIOS by unplugging and removeing the battery and setting the jumper from pins 1&2 to 2&3 and then back. Install battery, restart and enter BIOS to reset everything including display to Dual Video Cards or dual GPU's (whatever is under SLI). Restart and see if SLI is enabed.

If not then Download Driver Cleaner Pro and after reading the instructions, remove the Nforce4 and Nview Drivers using Windows Add/Remove software function and then run driver cleaner pro. After restart, install the NForce 4 drivers (6.66), restart and then install the Nview drivers ( I think 77.72 is the latest) and SLI should enable as you go through the reboots.

If still no luck then PM me and I can help further.

Plug in the 4 pin power plug and keep it plugged in as even though it says P4 all modern CPU's use it. Also, does your card require power (you didn't say what video you are running).

Unplug the PC and reset the CMOS/BIOS as per instructions above. Restart and set everything up in BIOS, restart and see if you can get it to POST. If not, you can go to the more extreme steps as posted on the page before this where I gave some instructions to Mikko.

Did you use standoffs when you installed the mobo?

The green light is OK. Is another light on? Look behind the motherboard and make sure you don't have an extra standoff installed or something else that may be shorting the mobo out. If no shorts that you can see then doublecheck the case leads (pwr on, HDD LED, spkr etc.) are not plugged in wrong (very likely). These are very easy to install on the wrong pin which will cause problems similar to what you are reporting.

I'll check back in an hour or so. Try and disconnect all the leads from the case and just hook up the power on/off leads. If you can get it to come on then keep hooking up leads.

There are no other lights on ... I can't see anything touching the board

Also I have checked the leads ... they seem to be ok the only problems I can see is that I have no case speaker so those pins are empty and the PWR LED lead is only 2 pins where as the manual for the bpard says it should be 3

I have the postive on the positive.

Also when the 4 pin plug is not in .. all the fans will switch on but it is not possible to turn them off by the on/off switch at the fan it has to be done from the PSU

thanks for your time by the way

I've read the nVidia Raid manual on the mobo support CD, but it doesn't say where the drivers are and i can only find the drivers for the silicon raid on the disc. any ideas as to where i might find the drivers themselves? Thanks for the help!

On my CD under the "Driver" tab there is a topic "Make nNvidia RAID Driver Disk". Also if you browse the disk you can find make disk under Drivers/Chipset/WinXP_2K/Driver_Disk/MakeDisk. Make the floppy and then load windows to RAID. Just make sure to enable only the ports that you use.

On page 185 I wrote a long instruction list about how to get the mobo to POST. You can try following that as it is the next step in troubleshooting. If you can't get it to POST after following those instructions then RMA it. I can get on MSN IM if you need to

thanks for the offer of MSN IM but I I am just going to bed ... getting late here in the UK

I think that I will just RMA the board now ... if I still have the the sameproblems with that board then hopefully your offer will still be there :o)

Have you tried calling the mother board company? They can usually tell you what the problem is I had a faulty CPU (or so they said) I have yet to get my CPU back so I don't know if it willl work but I have high hopes.

Sometimes the most complex problems have the simpilest solutions.

Tested my processor with friend's mobo today and then the same problems occured on his machine. Faulty CPU it is then, glad it wasn't the board or the RAM. Wish I would have tried it before RMA'ing the board and other desperate actions :).

At least you found the problem and learned a little bit about troubleshooting on the way. LOL you'd probably have rather missed the troubleshooting part. Hopefully the new CPU gets things back up and running. Let us know when you get it plugged in.
