I presume the fan on the card is running and the LEDs are lighted as they should be (on the card)? Also, do you have another video card you can plug into the PC as it is presently configured?

Yes, the fan is running on the video card and everything else is normal from what I can tell. I have one AGP card from my older ASUS board but it wouldn't work on this board as it doesn't have any AGP ports. I also have the PCI graphics card I used earlier to install windows with so I could flash the BIOS to 1013.

So basically either the PCIe slot is bad or that 7100 card is bad. Based on the fact that things went sour when you plugged the displays into the card I'd say that the 7100 has somehow failed on you. The mobo really doesn't care what you plug into the video card but the card itself seems to. I would RMA it before I went and RMAed the mobo.

Ahmad-
I saw only two different PSU's from those links and they are both pretty similar regarding power specs. The major difference seems to be that the first one has a single 120mm fan an the second has two 80mm fans. First one is probably quieter while the second will help case airflow but be slightly louder. Other than that, both look great for a SLI rig using the A8N mobo. All the right plugs, 550watts with dual 12v rails sporting 19amps each means zero power worries. Good luck and have fun w/ your build.

I have an Antec 550 EPS 12V* That I need to modify to run SLI. I am buying another 6800GT finally. From the 1st post:

"However they need to be modified in order to convert the 8-pin 12-volt connector, coming off of the 2nd 12-volt rail to two 6-pin PCIe power connectors, this is a simple procedure that means extracting the pins from the original connector and splitting them out to two 6-pin PCIe connectors. These will be connected to the GeForce 6800 Ultras directly, hence powering them off of their own 12-volt rail within the power supply. From our testing this is the only way to guarantee absolute stability"

Where to I buy these connectors I need. Also which wire rail is it? Anyone have an link on this mod?

I have been having trouble getting both of my 120mm fans working. Was hoping there was someone who could help me out. I've tried everything in my mind. Even sent the fans back to Thermaltake for RMA and they said they work fine. I get them lit up but they won't spin. Please, andy help is greatly appreciated.

Stephane-
Glad you are back in business. RMA the Asus and get your money back. Well, at least you can say you are a bona fide troubleshooter now. LOL Have fun with your new system.

Not possible to invert the wires because they can only go in one way.

I connnect them with a FAN ONLY coming from my NeoPower 480W. The FAN ONLY wire comes with two 4 pin connectors. I have 4 fans to connect so I just male female them. I tried to connect only the 120s by using one FAN ONLY for each to no avail. The 90s work no matter the configuration of wires though. The 120s light up perty blue but won't spin.

I called up Thermaltake and they told me that the 90mm need 6.6A and the 120mm need 7A. They said that my PSU may not be giving enough power for the 120s. I looked and Googled and re-read my manual but in there it says nothing about a fans or size limit. The case is fairly new so I can only imagine that the PSU can't supply enough power or I am restricting it somehow. I'm at a loss for understanding of PSUs and power currents.

Thankyou for taking an interest in my post. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dave

Help!

Something is overheating, I think, but I can't seem to place it!
Symptoms: From cold start, the system freezes about ten minutes into any relatively new game, then upon restart the system freezes within 1 minute. ONLY freezes during gaming, otherwise very stable.
Many of the games used to work fine.

One would think that is the GPU, but I have monitored it and I have never seen it go above 60 degrees C. The CPU has a Zalman cnps7700-cu aftermarket fan (arctic silver) and I have never seen that run above
45 C.

Nothing is overclocked

Has anyone had problems with the stock south bridge fan? Mine sometimes makes funny noises on startup, but that is always short lived. I don't know what the temp should comfortably be on the south bridge, and I'm not sure how to find out what the temp actually is, but I can't think of anything else! I have ordered a fan and heatsink from Newegg that supposedly will fit the sb, but has anyone else had this problem? Am I going in the right direction?

Thanks for any help, and yes I have tried searching from google directly on this board with keywords southbridge, fan, etc etc. before I posted this, but they have been dead ends.

Ben

I got your emails recently and I gave you my Toll Free number to call. I just sent you another email 10 minutes ago. :)

Something is overheating, I think, but I can't seem to place it!

Put your finger on it and if it gives you a third degree burn then you'll know. :)

Paul looks like it should be fine for your system ands it should solve the problems you are having. Each one is indicative of a PSU failure and the voltage drop is a big warning sign.
