THe A8N series sucks plain and simple. I bought the premium version and it lasted 7 minutes. All new and quality hardware. AMD 4400 64 CPU. Asus is well aware of this. THey will offer an exchange right away. What a hassle though.

If your machine wont power up dont waste time trying to figure it out. Its the A8N MB thats causing the problem.

I've been reading posts on this website for 6 months now. Cause i was quite worried about my asus a8n and quite frankly i've come to conclusion it's that some boards may be defective. Cause i've had mind since June and I haven't had any problems with it as yet. Soo I realy see it as to sugest the company sucks or whatever. Cause it's it just a handfull of boards that are defective.

hey, i'm new building and am having problem with my A8N

I can't seem to get the 2nd NIC working properly (the Marvell Yukon one). Device manager says 'device cannot start'. I've tried reinstalling and updating drivers. Other NIC works fine. Can anybody help?

Cheers, Gareth

Re: Marvel NIC not working

Gareth, I have the opposite problem, where my Marvel port works great but I can't get the Nvidia LAN port to do anything beyond retrieve an IP address from the DHCP server.

I'm assuming their properly enable in the BIOS right?

ANYWAY...

My board is having some issues.
Whenever I OC a little to much, (or I am in windows and it hard-locks) the machine will not boot up for about 12 hours. Clearing CMOS makes no difference (including removing the battery for 10 minutes).

After about 12 hours, it will boot up normally, CMOS intact (unless I tried to re-set it). This is really p**sing me off because it keeps freezing in windows (because I haven't got my setup re-tweaked since I installed my watercooling).

Anyone else have this problem and/or know of a fix?

Just built my own system:
A8N-SLI PREMIUM
AMD 64BIT 3000+
1024TWINX 3200C2PT CORSAIR
GIGABYTE 6600GT 128 VIVO
550 ANTEC TRUE POWER 2.0

It has been working without any probs for about 10 minutes. Since then I can see a black screen and no chances to get into BIOS settings at all. BOARD IS DEAD !

Does anyone know a good substitute from any brand to replace that sh*t ?

Many thanks

Thats what I'm getting. Wait 6-12 hrs (without trying to turn it on). See if it will boot then.

It may be that yours is just dead, however.

Problem with SLI PC and Battlefield 2 Patched 1.03

specs: AMD 64 +3800 2.41Ghz 1 GB memory two 6800GT Forceware 77.30 SLI-enabled.

After patching to 1.03 noticed that screen/display during menu and during the game there is random "twitching" for lack of better discription. Theres twitching from right to left, randomly either from top of screen or mid, sometimes bottom.

Should I go ahead and remove the patch or uninstall the game?

thanks

Hi

It is some time since I posted here last time. The MB is almost 1 year old, and I wonder if anyone here has got the onboard firewall to work yet?
I am using the Marvell Yukon device. For some reason when I used the NVIDIA one, I get slower up speed on internet. The onboard firewall is working nice, but after a time I am always getting the message:

Firewall Unavailable
If you are an Administrator, you have not installed the Firewall.

And yes I am an Administrator.

When this happens I can not enter the firewall settings and do any changes to it. The firewall is running, but if I need to change a port or something, I need to reinstall it.

Since this is a problem I know a lot of people are having struggling with, it would be of interest to find a solution. Many have just given up and installed another firewall. I think that this is a god one and would be worth to get working.

Sorry to say that getting it to work seems to be a job with no help from NVIDIA or Asus.

Hi
Just build a PC arount the A8N-SLI Deluxe with 1GB Kinston hyperX 3200 DDR, 36Gb RAID 0 Raptors and a 7800GT. Installed Xp and upgraded to latest chipset & sound drivers, and BIOS1014 from 1004. Using the NV sata & NIC

All seems fine.... However I have no sound. When i plug my Senheiser USB headphones in (has inbuilt soundcard) they work fine. I am using the onboard sound... Any one else experienced this

Tonight I will reinstall sound drivers and see

(PS got 6800 score on 3Dmark05)

UPDATE
Actually all the sounds are fine... Its a game problem
In counterstrike source I can only use 2 channel setup. when i put it into 4 speaker setup - no sound.
Anyway i can live with this. I expect its a steam problem as usual.

Oh just to say ive just set this board up on a clean system.. Once I got me RAID sorted was no problems.
Did find that after jumping directly from BIOS 1004 to the latest 1014 (i think) I had to reinstall the latest chipset drivers. Left my Ram at default will set that up to its CL2 onvce ive had a weeks stable running.

>> Need Advice on NVPerformance Loading Failure
Hi everyone,
I'm a noob in the area of overclocking, so sorry if this question is stupid, but I have a weird problem that I don't think anyone has had before with their A8N-SLI motherboards. I've been trying to get NTune's NVPerformance to load on my system. I can load NTune, NTune Monitor, NTune Troubleshooter, but not NVPerformance or the NTune profile manager. I just click on the NVPerformance link, and nothing at all happens. I checked taskmgr and the process NVPerformance.exe momentarily loads, but then it immediately disappears. I've tried updating, uninstalling, and reinstalling the NForce drivers and NTune itself-but NVPerformance refuses to work. Is there anything that can be done to fix this and get NVPerformance to work?
Thanks,
Dave

Hey guys, long time since I have had need to post in here but here goes: (apologies if this has been asked before it's got a bit big this thread!)

I have just upated to the latest official bios 1014. I previously ran 1013. I have had no problems with either bios running the machine, however when I run Asus Update now I get a blank requester to start off with and then a message saying that no Asus board is installed. Happens on both 13 and 14 bioses and I never had this before. I downloaded the latest version of update, uninstalled the old one and the new one wont install with the same issue as trying to run the thing.

Any ideas?

Also, is anyone running Maxtor DiamondMax 10 drives with NCQ enabled successfully? I know that originally there was some corruption seen in Windows with them and this board.

Thanks in advance peeps.

Problems with dividers. I have Corsair TWINX 1024MB 3200C2 memories. I know that the memories works upp to about 250MHZ. It works when i run them i 1:1 to the FSB. But when I set the FSB to 289x9 and the divides to 166 (333) the ram should work in ~236MHZ. When i start the computer with this settings it freezes after it has listed the hdds and DVD-roms. I have tried many diffrent dividers and fsb speeds but it doesn't help. Is there any one who knows how to solve the problem?

Hui,

I wondered if anyone would be able to help me with a problem I have. I am running the Asus A8N Premium board in a ThermalTake Shark case. i have plugged in all the cables and wires etc and got the machine running apart from the front power and hard drive LEDs. Is it possible these could be turned on in my bios? Does anyone know of a tiny tutorial (other than in the manual) which might show me how to plug them in.

Thanks very much for any help you can give.

Josh

NO VIDEO POST with brand new system.
I have tried 2 monitors and swapped video card slots and installed the 20/24 pin PS/MB adaptor --- still no video ---- just a long beep followed by a quick flash of the 3 top right lock LEDS on the keyboard.

I have the following pieces:
CPU AMD 64 |3500+ ATHLON 64 939
MB ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe NF4
CORSAIR D400 512MX2 VS1GBKIT400
VGA ASUS|RADEON EAX850PRO/HTVD/256
DVD BURNER LITE-ON SOHW-1693S BK
HD250G|ST 7200 8M SATA ST3250823AS
THERMALTAKE 480W PS

My MB bios is version 1011
Any help appreciated!
Maybe I have missed an obvious step ?
ASUS said they would overnite BIOS 1014 but so far over 1 day late and NOTHING yet.

I have the same problem as you. Asus told me I'd have a new bios chip by this past tuesday and still have not gotten it. The guy seemed rather confident it was a bios problem that was causing no boot and post. Let us know if the new 1014 solved your problem.

I'm a First-Time builder with a similar problem, except when I powered up my new PC everthing in the case seems to work, but nothing appears on the monitor. The green light is on, all 6 case fans run along with the PSU fan, the chipset fan, and the videocard fan. I had everything connected on 1st boot. Nothing on monitor.
Disconected everthing, reset CMOS. Connected Video card, keyboard, and monitor. Same result booted with nothing on monitor.

The case speaker makes a 5-8 second buzzing sound about 10 seconds after powering up the pc.
Any Help/Ideas will be greatly appreciated. I've been buying parts for 6wks and have high hopes for
the day I successfully boot this baby up.

That is the same problem as ours. One thing that is similar with our systems is the 3500+ Venice. This is why I believe it is a bios problem and not our memory, cpu, video card, or PSU. Call asus and ask for the newest bios chip. They are supposedly sending me one now.
