Hey Adam,
I googled the error and found this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q293078
If you've got a cheapo AGP card I'd throw it in and see how it works then.

Cheers,
JL

This mobo does not have a AGP slot.
Adam-
If you can get into BIOS enable the voice POST reporter and see if it tells you anything. I would also reseat my memory and video card(s).

I'm not a big networking guy so I'm out of my depth w/ what you're doing. I don't use either LAN on this mobo as I am on wireless. With those caveats in mind I'll offer a few suggestions;
1. Disable, or better yet un-install, the Active Armor.
2. With BF2 I had to drop my CAS from 2 to 2.5 to achieve stability. IMHO BF2 is heavy lifting for a single GT so maybe play with the settings.
3. Check the temps on your 6800GT and if you aren't already, and the temps are good, then O/C it to 400/1100
4.

Just noticed that you have four sticks of RAM in your rig. You need to set 2T timing on that (under DRAM in BIOS: Timing 1T or 2T). What kind of RAM do you have exactly?

Hey Merc,

Part number for Ram is CMX512-3200
Both pairs are of same type. Corsair XMS 3200
I'm pretty sure the timing is set to 2T.

>> computer wont boot after processor upgrade
Hi, am i missing something obvious here?
I've been running the SLI delucxe with an Athlon 64 3200 for a year now without any problems at all. Yesterday i replaced the processor with an X2 3800 and now the computer wont boot at all.
I've upgraded the bios to 1016, i've cleared the cmos. The green LED on the mb lights up, but nothing at all happens when i try to start the computer. And the only thing i did was to replace the processor.
I tried plugging in the old 3200 and nothing happens with that processor as well

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Hey,

I got a problem with installing windows on my SATA drive. The drive is detected perfect in BIOS, it gives the right capacity (250GB), also in DOS FDISK. But when I boot from windows installation cd, the installation detects a drive of 125GB instead of 250GB.

This is the only SATA drive i use, i use no IDE HD's. I set all the raid controllers on disabled in BIOS. I tried all the 4 connectors from the Nforce Sata connectors on the motherboard. but nothing helps. Does anyone know what to do about it?

The Sata Drive is a Maxtor DaimondMax 10 250GB SATA drive

CPU: amd athlon 64 3500+
Memory: corsair 1024 MB DDR400

thx, Job

Download DrivercleanerPro at http:http://www.drivercleaner.net , read the instructions and update it. Then remove the Nvidia Display Driver with the windows add/remove utility. Boot into safe mode (F8 before windows reads in) and run drivercleaner with "Nvidia" selected. Under tools run CAB cleaner and SP2 cleaner. Reboot into normal mode and re-install the 81.98 driver.

If you're rinning aLCD monitor make sure that you're running at its native resolution. Have you run memtest86? Corsair is good stuff but even they send out a bad stick now and then.

Check your voltages under load with a multimeter.

Alex-
If you were running a BIOS prior to 1010 then that is the problem. Try to clearCMOS again, as detailed below, but if that doesn't work I'd put the 3200 back in, clear CMOS and reflash BIOS 1016 with a floppy and if the sytem comes up, put the 3800X2 in, clear CMOS and reboot.

CLEAR CMOS
1. Unplug your PC from the wall. Open the case and put on your ESD strap.
2. Remove the battery from the mobo and then locate the 3 pin jumper which is right next to the battery. Pins 1 & 2 are covered by a blue cap. Put the cap on pins 2 & 3 for a minute and then move it back to pins 1 & 2 . Reinstall the battery and your BIOS should be back to default settings.
3. Make sure both power cords are properly seated in the mobo and that the RAM and video card are completely seated and video card has power. Make sure monitor cable is fully connected.
4. Plug back in
5. You may need to do it a couple of times

Maxtor made some drives that had problems with the NF4 chipset. Supposedly there is a patch on their website. Check that out.

Thanks Merc I'll give it a go. I haven't run memtest on any of the ram, so I'll do that. I had an old stick of kingston ram in it earlier that was causing some issues. I just 'assumed' the corsair would be good. (Mostly becuse of their reputation.)

I am running an LCD display, but I've seen the issue on a CRT as well.

When you say to check my voltatges, are you suggesting all votages, or just to the video card? Not qute sure what I should load the system with to test. Maybe the Doom3 demo?

Thanks again for the help.

Those having trouble with Maxtor DiamondMax 9/10 SATA drives, there are known issues with disk drive firmware and nForce 4. Apparently Maxtor is not very forthcoming in publishing this info or firmware upgrades on their web site.

Well, my problem doesn't appear to be related to the capture cards. I removed the cards then watched a 2hr dvd in TheatreTek. No problems at all. I then put in a dvd and played it in media center. Lockup after 40minutes. I've been playing around and I get the crash easily in MCE. I tried using Sagetv and I get some weird results. When using Sage's audio and video decoder I can watch TV and don't get lockups. If I switch to Nvidia's purevideo decoder or Sonic Cinemaster decoder, I get lockups. Can't explain why though. My temps remain stable throughout. Any thoughts?

Re: Taddy Porter, Nvidia purevideo codec

This guy's experience may help you:

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.mediac...98b6d639ac

"To fix this, I had to turn off nVidia PureVideo (DVD) Decoders hardware acceleration. This is done by playing a TV (live or recorded) in MCE, then minimising MCE and right clicking the DVD Decoder settings icon in the system tray. In the video settings, untick Hardware Acceleration. Close MCE and restart and see if that fixes the problem."

Thanks for the link Matt. I'm not sure the problems are identical since the usenet postings indicate a stopped video, but my entire system is locking up. Being related to hardware acceleration would appear to be correct though since both Sonic & Purevideo use hardware acceleration, but the sage decoder I believe is software. I'm reinstalling my system as we speak. I'll try grabbing the MS updates before installing any drivers, etc and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

Hey All

I work for Asus Uk and i have decided due to the lack of resonse from Asus to this fantastic board, me and a few blokes have opened a BRAND new forum which is dedicated purely to the A8N SLI DELUXE board. We have also included a FREE manned Live Tech Room for on the spot issue advice. In 10 days of opening, we have now 300 members and 200 hits on the Tech room. 115 resolved issues.

If you have time and your issue is not resolved here or any other forum, come on over and take a look!

The results from that have been fantastic and i know has passed you some new members, some of which i see here already! what i offer with the above link is nothing more than a further option.

Thanks for your understanding!

What a shame it's so exclusive :-( Due to a slight mix up in my order I now own an SLI and not the SLI DL I intended! Never mind, if you can't afford the subs - don't join the club! What's the difference between the 2 anyway, is it just the WinHappy interface ;-)
