I have the Premium verson of the board and have had no problems with the 3850. Hope that helps.
Sincerely,

Hello,

I am having repetitive BSOD errors with my new box:

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo Bios: 1016
1 GB of Corsair mem matched latency
ST3250620A Seagate Barracuda
PNY 8600GT OC 512K SLI
Sony DVD RW AW-G170A
X-Finity 500W PSU
Win XP home SP2

Bios has been configured to match the guide at the beginning of this thread.

My issues: lots of BSOD errors happening rather randomly at times. Also, when I try to update ASUS online chip utility, I get an error about not being able to uncompress the file. I also get errors if I burn it onto a CD with my older box (that works great), but this system says that the CD is corrupted (happens with any drivers, especially with either NVidia or ASUS drivers), yet runs Oblivion without issues.

Want to get this box stable in order to make it into a media server/gaming rig.

Please help.

Another error that has cropped up is when after downloading something via either the onboard Nvidia NIC or the Mavell NIC, windows is giving me an NSIS error on installation of the freshly downloaded file. In essence, that the file is corrupted and can not be installed or the source is corrupted. It did this with WinAmp, which I downloaded via Firefox, which does not give me any errors on a true Intel Dell box. Beginning to think that both onboard NIC ports are crap.:|

I have found the NVIDIA NIC does not work at all on my motherboard, so I've disabled it.

Others, long ago in this thread, complained about file corruption on downloads--I think they were on the NVIDIA port, too.

However, the Marvell NIC is working fine for me.

Thanks, Matthew. Turning off the Nvidia NIC in the bios worked. All my BSOD errors disappeared with that. Also learned that the NV NIC part of that board, has a design flaw. Nothing like after-production bugs, eh.

ok I am no not an ASUS fan anymore. I have had nothing but problems with this system. I have read a lot of review of the same type of problems with ASUS boards.

My computer is now totally dead, when I start the power comes on, the memory has only one yellow lite on then goes out and that is it.No bios nothing here is what I have.

ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
Antec NeoPower 550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo 2.2GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual-Core
CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel
2 X EVGA 256-P2-N529-AX GeForce 7800GTX 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card

I tested the power supply with Antec tester, that is good, I switched arround them memory and even removed all the memory, it seems good. I had to replace the Corsair the first time.

I replaced the bios battery.

Symtoms I've had in the past. The box would some times shut down saying low battery, I replaced bios battery once, that went away for a while.

System crashed, turned out to be faulty memory, or at least when I put replacement memory in it worked.

Two points.
Eric, this is spam. You posted to two or more threads with the exact same text.
Second, This still shows up as a "sticky:". Can anyone include that in the Subject line, or can this be removed from the legacy postings?

Oh for christ sake... can we delete this topic already?! So annoying to see a 3 year old thread come up every time, especially with 'sticky' name in front...

>> Re: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe FAQ
Hi to start out here are my system specs

Asus a8n-sli deluxe (bios 1007 rev)
1 gig of corsair xms memory (2-3-3-5)
1 BFG 6800 gt oc 256mb video card
AMD fx-55 2.6ghz CPU
1 Western digital SATA raptor 15,000 rpm hard drive
1 Western digital caviar 120gig hard drive
soundblaster audigy 2 zs sound card
windows xp operating system
pc power and cooling 510 sli power supply.

Ok here is my question, I would like to upgrade a few of my components to this system but still use my motherboard and cpu as well as everything but my video card and memory, but I was wondering if putting 4gb in this motherboard will cause it to run unstable/slow/or give me problems. I want to put two matched 2 GB kits in the memory slots made by OCZ to give me 4GB worth of memory. So if I do go that route would it run in dual channel if both kits are the same voltage, latency, ETC. Also I want to buy a new video card and would like to put a 9800 GTX on it, but I dont know if putting a pci-express 2.0 card onto this motherboard will work. Lastly can vista run AT ALL on this mobo. Thank you for your help in these matters, and thank you for your time.

Here are the components i want to put into the system.

video card- EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX(G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

link to the video card- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130339

memory- OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail ( i want to put 2 of these on the motherboard so 2 kits total for 4gb)

link to the memory- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227210

Again thank you for the help.

No problems with putting a PCI 2.0 Card in the primary 16x slot.
This board does have stability issues with running all 4 DIMMs of ram, If you want to run 4GB get 2x2GB DIMMS. I've not yet been able to run 4 DIMMs in DUAL Channel at DDR400 speeds, I must step down to DDR333. Also 4 DIMMs will not run at the rated latencies and they have to be loosened. I've recently had to step back to using 2 slots after the system failed to post, but both sets of DIMMs test fine individually.
Vista runs quite nicely on this board with my 4400+

Thank you for your reply Gerrit, and can you confirm that 2 gig modules run fine in the a slots? Just want to be sure before I slap down the money for them :D

Dave,
I'm reletively sure they will, but can't say for sure because I've not tried it.
The issues I had all had to do with running 4 slots, even when I was running 512K modules.
Mayhap someone else can say with certainty.
