The 20pin can only fit one way (well one way not forced) into the 24pin socket.

Yup, I pretty much plugged in my 20 pin power supply into the board and it's been running fine. A converter cable is on it's way from newegg, so I'll use it just in case, but other than that, it's all good.

Can 2 separate power supplies be ran to this board? For example, I plan on buying a 450 watt 24 pin soon, but I also have a 350 watt antec. Could I run the antec into the board via 4 pin and keep the 24 pin hooked in to combine the two? If this is silly please let me know, but it sounds logical.

Thanks

Otis

Thought i would just share this awesome Utility (nHancer) i'm using for making profiles, it's really good for making SLI profiles and standard profiles, it's very easy to use. Check it out.

With the new 1005-003 Bios for the MB 3DMark 2005 wont run for me. It just freezes my comp. I tried to uninstall it and then reinstall but it didnt work. Any idea what could cause this? It ran fine with 1005-001 and all the other bios, just wont run now that I updated.

Edit: Does anyone have A8N-SLI Deluxe MB Bios 1005.001 saved anywhere and care to send it to me? I went to the 1004 bios and now 3DMark05 stops in middle and says error. Things went down hill since I changed bios :( If you have and care to send it to me email is Treewolf00@gmail.com. THanks

Why are they not releasing any BIOS updates for the plain A8N-SLI, the last (and first) official release is dated November 2004, the only BETA's are dated Jan 2005.

Have ASUS forgot about us plain A8N owners :(

I've posted regarding this once.

No not a good Idea! **************** DO NOT USE TWO SEPERATE POWER SUPPLIES ****************

Both power supplies would have to be synchronized electronically, startup, voltage, coefficient of mutual inductance etc.... You will be sending power to devices and mobo at different times which would damage your system.

Your score is reasonable for one card, two cards 7000 range and up.

Robert

but the real problem is the speaker it should it not make a sound
as i do not have a CPU installed or any RAM. (it should make a really long beep sound i think!)

I think the CPU needs to be installed first.

Did you find all of the memory information you needed in cpuz.exe?

I think ASUS is following this thread to discover all of their screw ups, once there are less problems here they will release a new one. lol

Mike :)

The problem is hardly anyone seems to have the plain A8N-SLI, most the problems that are being reported are for the DLX model. The Deluxe model is getting the deluxe treatment as far BIOS revisions are concerned, while us poor people that couldn't afford one are getting left behind.

I guess i should mention my problem. In a couple of Games (UT 2004 and SWAT 4) i get a BSOD every single time i quite. I'm sure this will happen in other games in the future.

ATTN MIKE T.!!!!!

I'm finally convinced of my systems's stability, so I decided to start working on some OC. I followed your guide on page 16 to the letter. I'm running rock solid, with some decent performance gains. My 3dMark03 score last night was up over 1000 points to 22604.

Here's the only problem -

When I try to set the settings in BIOS, everything looks good. The only setting that doesn't seem to take is my HT link. I've set it to 5x in the jumperless config, and when I look at the system in nTune, it reverts to 2x. I can set this in nTune and it stays...I can load it as a profile, and it stays...but if I try to set it in BIOS, it reverts.

Any ideas on why that would be?

By the way, Mike...you're 12th on the ORB list for 3dMark05. I'm chasing you down, man! I just posted 10331. Of course, you got it on FM approved drivers, so it means a little bit more :)
