>> Re: Asus A8N-SLI FAQ
Create NVraid driver floppy from your cd first.
Set drives on NVraid SATA 1 SATA 2.on motherboard
Enable NVRaid in bios
Enable SATA Master 1 -2 in the same place Save and reboot.
F10 during reboot and Stripe in NVraid there..
Install windows, F6 to install NVRaid drivers (both)
full format NTFS
Have fun!

Jamie took a bat to his motherboard today.
Are you taking a bat to your RAM? lol
I didn't mean to bust your bubble bud, I took it pretty hard too, having the same RAM and 2 Gigs at $800 CAD. More RAM just isn't better on this board, especially two 1 GIG matched sticks, oh yeah great for bandwidth but Latency sucks. I need PC4400 500 DDR, low RAM MB's, and lower Latencies for benchmarks. 2 X 256 will be killer on this unit, no, G.S killer.

You got it, when it comes to RAM timings you can do better on an Intel than an AMD system.
2 Gigs on this board, even worse! Two thumbs down from Mike Thellend.

>>>Wont hurt to try, by the way that sucker must have cob webbs on it, I cant even find it on the net. lol
Remove your good card first (well somewhat good), and remove the SLI EZ Selector card, the bigger one, just to avoid any hassles on boot. Personally I give it 50% it will work.
Also, im to understand, once you get these beeps the pc wont continue to boot?
>>>Depends on what error, but VGA yes it wont.

>>>Oh, don't worry you'll get some. lol
No garantee this will work, but at this point what the heck.
Mike
I don't think anyone put that exact card in before, or if anyone tried it at all. Been here since page ten.

Your absolutly sure RAM is in the right place and everything with power is a go? Go in BIOS to
Advanced look for PCIPnP>Initial display first {PCI SLot} Not PCIEX after, if you get to the BIOS. Should be default to this anyway.

Mike:
trying to tune my video card and mem with Ntune here, got my GPU to 568/1180, stock 550/1100
scored 322 in ntune benchmark, DOOM 3 is running well too, but 3D MARK 05 has video corruption,
i dont know if it the nature of 3D mark 05 or anything else. it seems like i have to reload the profile all the time, is there anyway that it will load profile itself when i boot? or i have to load it myself before i run doom or benchmark?

>> Re: Asus A8N-SLI FAQ
Hi Mike. Thanks for the quick reply. Currently im still selling off my old stuff to buy a gt6600. I read this forum a week ago and thought id get an early start on bugs by throwing in a pci board. It wont let me get as far as the BIOS so I cant change a thing anyhow. I went ahead and took that pci card and installed it in my current system with and without the agp card and it wouldnt boot, no beeps or anything. I removed the card and it fired right up. So I think my prob is the crap pci card Guess Ill either wait or hit the 15 dollar shipping auctions on ebay. By the way I am using kingston 256 PC3200 in both blue slots. Hope to get another 512 soon after I get it all going stable.
Thanks again
Otis

Yes, your card is tuned. Just follow the step to reduce your frequencies a bit to get rid of corruption. Ntune profile manager will load your file, you need to set that up!

Yes, this is very normal, you will rarely ever get a hard drive that will give the full rated manufacturer's capacity, to begin with. Powerquest Partition Magic will give you full control over clusters etc... Usually default cluster size is 4 K after installing RAID0 on NTFS, this note for when you do go RAID0.

Hi Mike.
Sorry about this late post, but my chipfan have gone in to RIP+.
Luckily nothing else broke. No OC on me for awhile.
Do you have any good chip coolers to recommend? You have probably noticed that I am using air cooling,
so water cooling is not an option right now. Later perhaps.
About my VGA cards they are both
Gainward GeForce 6600GT 128MB 1,6ns PCI-E,"Golden S., Goes Like Hell"(GLH), or you could call them
Gainward PowerPack! Ultra/1960 PCX XP 128MB "Golden Sample" GLH
Sticker on both VGA cards say: P945010MP010 GF6600GT 128MB GS.
There is also a second sticker that hold some kind of production number.
VGA # 1: G050106246
VGA # 2: G050106247
I have lowered the clock on both so they match the lowest score -10.
Thanks for your help
Remi Holm.

hi mike
yes i know a drive wouldn't get full capacity
but 10GB lost? its quite shocking to see 10GB wasted
10GB is alot of wasted space!
oh well, i hope when i get another drive and raid it
this should fix the problem.
properly get back 2-5gb back lets hope so[/reply]
