Hey people, maybe you can help a girl out. I just bought a new computer in order to play games, specifically, Warcraft, on it. All my comp. friends have said it was a "beast" and should be able to handle WoW. So I'm playing... and it's the worst thing ever: it'll stop and start at moments especially when the interaction is intense. I'll have video artifacts on my screen-- black/green/blue criss-cross boxes randomly on my screen, especially on toolbars and such. Plus WoW will completely crash-- the screen will pause and the sound will play on but I can't move my character or interact or anything... so then I have to hard reboot my computer because I can Alt-Tab out. Sometimes I can do the Ctrl-Alt-Del thing, sometimes it doesn't work and I have to manually turn the comp off. The game even crashed on the opening screen! Here are my specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1 GB PC3200 RAM
120 GB HD
Nvidia GeForce 6800

I have adaware, AVG virus scan, etc. and I don't visit porn sites or have anything weird on my comp. I have the NVIDIA driver 7.1.2.5, whatever that means.

How do I keep my WoW from crashing 5-6 times a night? Any help would be appreciated!

OK dont worry, your PC can run WoW no freakin problem. I think it is a software issue, such as drivers, or your OS (Operating System) Update every driver, from your BIOS, chipset, videocard, audio card, and any other peripherals you have. If it continues, re-install the game, or windows itself. If this all fails, I am sorry for you LMAO not j/k contact Blizzard customer support, maybe they can help. Lemme know how it turns out.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

You got the same problems that I am having with my Geforce 6800. The problem is the graphics card. Its not the card itself, but the drivers which are faulty. The WHQL drivers and most BETA drivers from NVIDIA are crap. They dont work well, and when you put your Anisotripic Filtering settings ON, your pc will lock up every hour. (turning AF off, will stop locking up your pc!!)

I've been testing all beta drivers from NVIDIA that came out so far.
These drivers: 71.84 BETA seem to work fine with my card. (Dont forget to uninstall your old drivers before using these)
http://www.station-drivers.com/telechargement/nvidia/nvidia%20...02k-xp.exe

If I look at my graphic settings in WOW, I got everything under 'world appearence' on High. (Also my AF settings.. because they seem to work with the latest beta driver .. see link)
Under 'Shaders' I only put that full-screen glow effect off (You get a much sharper image)
And under 'Misc...' put vertical sync OFF

Hope this works for you.

Could be heating issue, either ur case is poorly ventilated or your GPU is heating quickly.

How many fans do u have in your case?

Also, download Hardware Monitor and report your idle CPU temps and whatnot for us so we can see if heat is the problem.

I have a 6800 and have used both the official NvIdia driver and the forceware drivers from http://www.guru3d.com and had no problems with both playing WOW, your problem could be heat related or faulty hardware even alough it is new they say computer parts are more likely to go wrong within the first 6 months than the rest of the time, try updating everything and if you still have no luck then you could try a re-install of windows.
