I'm having a little problem with my computer and I was hoping that maybe you could help me out. Here's the problem:
Whenever I load certain websites (be it in IE, Firefox, or Opera) these websites crash my browser. The browser completely closes and the process ends in the Task Manager. Some sites that cause this problem for me are:
Once the site closes I can open up the browser again without any problem and go back to the site. After reconnecting to the site, however, the browser immediately crashes again.
This problem has been going on for about a week now and performing a System Restore to back before the problem does not resolve the issue.
I have no idea what is causing the problem and am fairly confused. I have run antivirus scans with my main antivirus (Nod32) as well as an online scanner (Trend Micro Housecall) and they have both came back clean. I have also ran both Ad-aware and Spybot and these scans come back clean as well.
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas as to what might be causing this problem I would greatly appreciate any input.
Unfortunately, there are no error messages in the Event Viewer.
I have disabled quite a few system processes, bringing my idle process count down to twenty-one while including my antivirus and firewall. I have the same exact setup on my laptop, however, and the laptop has no problem with these sites.
Well, I just ran those links and the first two ran fine. (Opened about 10 itms on each site). But tht fark.com was a constant 'Runtime error has occurred, do you wish to debug' . Got fed up with it after about the 20th time, so came out. Running IE6 SP1 with all security patches on Win98SE.
Do unto others exactly what you expect them to do to you.
Uninstall all plugins? If there's a way to do that... Clean up ur registry, I know Spybot and AdAware don't do a good enough job in my registry.
A fresh install would fix most things tho. And I know for me a fresh install is faster than cleaning the registry and deleting all kinds of sh*t. But u probably have alot of interesting programs etc. But for someone as computer-litterate as u...
