I dont mind the ads around the screen but this one that pops up in the middle of the screen and takes half of the screen needs to go NOW. I will put up with it for now but I wont for long.

No it is a Verizon one that this site is using. I get it every time I click to a new page. It is awful. At first I thought I had adware or spyware but ran those test and nada. I know it is this site that is using it cause, everywhere else I go, I dont get it, just here and it sucks. Let me fire up my firefox and see what happens. Dont get it with that so I am going to run that for now.

CHange to a different web browser. I have been using Avant for quite a while and it blocks the popups and ads quite nicely. It even does a pretty nice job when you hit a site that buries you in popups like the sex sites do. It takes a tiny bit of configuring to get it perfect but it's worth it plus it's free. It has features you don't get with Internet Explorer.

I have sent numerous emails to Verizon advising them that their site is being used for this kind of stuff, but so far all I've ever had is automated responses. Apparently, they sell 'secure server systems'. Some advert for their product.

Do unto others exactly what you expect them to do to you.

if your using IE, you deserve it. Heres a poll:

What browser do you use?

1) Internet Explorer
2) Netscape
3) Forefox
4) Something else

I use Crazy Browser & Firefox, I have never seen this popup you are refering to. I suggest ditching the crappy browser.

I use both. More firefox lately cause I like the tabs. When IE 7.0 comes out this summer, I may use that more. I am using Firefox now on this site. I get an advertisement that pops up in the background from tribalfusion.whatever so it isnt just IE. The one from Firefox is less annoying that is all. All ads suck period, I understand sites need them to support them but they dont have to be so annoying.

I've never seen this Verizon ad and I use HWA on 2 different PC's both with IE6 - I fear it's not the site but possibly something the likes of google toolbar pop-up blocker could rid you of.

Havent sen it here lately. It was whenever the ad on top of this page had a verizon ad, it would bring up another have page size ad too. I dont mind the ads on top and the ones embedded in the site, it is when ads start taking over the computer screen.

It was only this site so I know it was HWA ad. I dont like the toolbars, google or yahoo so I dont use them. I do have a pop up blocker but it wouldnt work with that ad for some reason. Like I said it was this site only.

I've seen it, as well as the Circuit City interstitial. (Loads full page, then you have to click to get to the site)

I use IE 6 with the google toolbar.
Sure, I get some ads, (google toolbar doesn't block everything) but I also don't have the problem of NOT seeing popups I want to.

MANY sites use popups extensively, and sometimes it can really screw you if a popup is blocked (shopping sites).

I don't go through the toruble of installing other popup blockers for a few reasons

I don't need extra crap running on my system
Most sites I go to do NOT have annoying ads
I don't want to have to configure a new blocker to allow popups from certain sites (shopping, mainly)
A popup ad or two isn't too bad.

The REALLY annoying ones are flash ads that cover the page, or have sound!

I use IE6 (no pop-up blocker), Firefox, and Opera. With IE6 I get blown away with the number of pop-ups on HWA. With Firefox I get an occasional and tolerable ad. With Opera I get no pop-ups at all. The site does have pop-ups. But the members here use mostly Firefox or a pop-up blocker with IE.

Deepnet Browser, and I don't see them either. I hava a flash animation killer, but I like killing the cockroaches in the one on the top of the site so it's not enabled. I also have a built in floating ad killer. That's probably what's killing the verizon one if it's not the built in popup killer. If it's one of those that floats around anyway. Those suck. Since IE's vulnerabilities are pretty much all from the application, Deepnet uses it's own application software, but uses the same HTML rendering engine as IE. So I get the best of both worlds. Mainly I don't even need to have IE to have to use for those sites those other browsers can't go to. Plus I have all the tabs, multiple start pages, built in p2p and news feeds. You guys need to lose Firefox and Opera. There is a new dog in town. This browser rocks.

Edit: I love how they bleep out cockroach. I'll bet it bleeps out Matsushita too. LOL
