I have a sysytem with SLI 6800 Ultras and the rest of the good hardware money can buy. And I feel kinda of cheated out of money. When I use the multi-gpu setting I see a slow down on my sytem when gaming and nothing put a crap load of problems. Its strange when I set it on single GPU the system runs better, whats this all about? Maybe its all hype... Is there anything anybody can suggest? And is the system still using both graphic cards if it is set on single GPU? Help me see the light?

Well there is a few resons why its not so good.

Your PSU is under power
Your CPU is too slow.

SLI only gives 15-25% performance increase, The 6600Gt's in SLI perform better than the 6800 Ultra (single)(based on test results on a non bias bench test and results) there is very little support for SLI in games and other uses that you would normally use. Like I have iterated before the SLI isnt any better than a normal system weighing up problems Vs performance

System is not optimised to run faster and better.
Your computer is not setup correctly

Most people who buy PC;s or build there own think that there system is the best as they got advice on what to buy and read reviews on the hardware. OK thats fine, BUT did you check the combination of the hardware performance, did you manuall set all the bios settings, test the system, tweak it and ensure that every thing was running correctly?

On a system thats not correctly setup, the SLI mode will score about the same as a single graphics card.

The chances are that you changed 4 settings the bios, run the system under powered, not performed the essentials to get better system performance.
most people who build there own systems weather clocking or not dont know what there doing.

Here is the specs to my computer!

I have the best Hardware money out there can buy!
*Asus SLI Deluxe Board
*AMD FX 55
*Dual Nvdia 6800 Ultras
*680 watt Thermaltake PS with SLI power connections
*2 gig of Corsair 3200
*New Asus Heatsink
*Thermaltank Armour Case
*2 rapture 75 gigabyte 10,00rpm HD on Raid stripe
That should answer your question! My power supply isnt weak my cpu isnt weak my graphics cards are not weak, my technical skills are above those who just read magazines and I dont buy what people tell me to.Oh ya I have been a PC tech for about 4 years so my skills shouldnt lack all that bad. Now can somebody give me some really answer the questions I had asked instead of insulting me thanks!
