Not sure about a virus or not but to reset your bios...

Turn your pc off and isolate from the mains.

Remove the battery from your motherboard and wait for 15mins before replacing. This will reset the bios to its defaults.

Ok power up your pc and enter bios (usually have to press delete while its booting) and look for 'set optimum defauts' select that and save settings and exit.

Your pc should now boot up without any password needed.

As for the programs disappearing try running an updated antivirus...preferably run the online scanners to find out if you have a virus. A computer I once worked on sometime back was behaving the same way, no programs were running and no programs were showing up in the add/remove list, ended up being the W32.pinfi virus....so just scan your system and see what you come up with...

This sig is a virus, since I am not so technically advanced, it's a manual virus. If you can see this message that means you've got the virus, so please delete all the files on your hard drive yourself and forward this message to everyone you know! :)
