I googled up my own answer $155USD @ newegg

Can I get it any cheaper anywhere else

Only the corporate edition is 64-bit compatible.

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is my OS on this computer and I'm glad I got it. Of course I made sure that nVidia (for nForce), ATI (for X800 XL), and Creative (for Audigy 2 ZS) had 64-bit compatible drivers before hand.

Just what I thought... the move to 64-bit is definitely going to be another wallet buster... lovely...

"Once you buy this, then you got to buy that, so that makes this and that campatible with those, and then of course there is this other thing that costs more money that is required to run the rest of that right...

Frickin fun!!! Sarcasm should be evident there :-)

lol yeah. x64 would be a bad move for you because you aren't running an x64 CPU. That would be a *big* wallet buster. ;)

I built my computer with x64 Edition in mind. :)

I think I would prefer a virus scanner with less chance of builtin trojans..

ie I'm willing to pay... just wish mcafee would pull their finger out and release a 64 bit compatible virus scan online.

Well, just do a google search, there should be loads of Virus Scanners everywhere. And use Microsofts Anti Spyware, it's the BEST SPYWARE out there for Windows XP, Pro, Home & 64-Bit.

I have the Beta version which was for free, & the best thing is that you can upgrade it all you want to the non-beta version for freee.

Don't rule out AMD so fast, they can't be the best all the time. ;)

LOL!!! Exactly what I was thinking... but I don't think that there would be a problem with microsoft trying to pull something like that.... they would lose a lot of credibility if they did that... But then again... you never know

Also... It appears the next gen graphics cards aren't going to be AGP anymore... SOOOO... I have to upgrade anyways... lol. The 7800GTX and the R520 both were made specifically for PCI-E, and they aren't planning on making an AGP version, without a lot of protests from the peeps... hmm...

I guess i better start saving... lol :-)

No, No, you have all the control when using Microsoft's Anti-Spyware. One scan & anything on your PC which is spyware is gone, or you have the option to do what you want to do.

It is the best thing out for all of Microsoft's Windows OS's ;)

And it's 1000000000000000000000000000000% compatable to Win 64-Bit.

Don't rule out AMD so fast, they can't be the best all the time. ;)

I too run the official version of WinXP Pro x64 Bit .. besides it being awsome, here's a list of "Anti-virus" software.. also, 99% of antispyware software that works on XP 32 Bit works on XP x64 Bit.

x64 Bit Antivirus software:
Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition v10 (you must call to purchase "single" license)
NOD32 v2.5.1 x64 Beta ( free beta here: http://www.nod32.com/download/downbeta.htm .. works great )
McAfee Antivirus Enterprise v8.xx and up
Avast v4.6 Personal x64 ( full and free .. here: http://www.avast.com/eng/x64.html )

Those are all current official and current beta anti-virus software, now I will list upcoming and "unofficial" version that do work on WinXP Pro x64.
Panda Anti-virus software - x64 Bit beta version coming in August 2005
BitDefender (Free) v7 - this is free anti-virus software that will install and run on WinXP Pro x64 Bit, the only part that does'nt work is the "background" scanner (or realtime scanner), but the manual scan is fully functional.
BitDefender Anti-virus v8 - this works the same as the free version above.. just the "background/reatime" scanner does'nt work .. but manual scans do (this is not a free version, 30 trial then must be purchased)
Info and downloads of BitDefender: http://www.bitdefender.com/ (then look under downloads)

Online "Anti-virus" scanners:
TrendMicro HouseCall (anti-virus & spyware): http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Panda Active Scan: http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan/com/activesca...ncipal.htm
PC PitStop Scanner (mcafee scanner): http://www.pcpitstop.com/antivirus/default.asp
RAV Online Scanner: http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
**All those work with WinXP Pro x64**

Now.. as for "Anti-Spyware" software.. I know for a fact that "Adaware", "Microsoft Anti-Spyware", "TrendMicro Anti-Spyware v3.0", "X-Cleaner" (free edition), all work .. and I've seen others that claim some other version do as well. I myself used both the "Microsoft Anti-Spyware" and "TrendMicro Anti-Spyware v3.0" .. they both run flawlessly. I've also used "Adware Personal SE" and "X-Cleaner (Free)" and they too have no issues.

Another thing.. Spyware right now is a bigger threat to x64 system than virus/worms are .. there are only a few viruses/worms that can totally infect a x64 bit OS out there, but it's still a good idea to have anti-virus software.. I'm currently using "NOD32 v2.5.1 Beta x64" and like it, the official version of it will be out by the end of July.

Ohh, and finally transfered my comp back into my old case, so I can start the heavy modding on the Vento... Also got more free time to do it now... :-)
