I purchased a HD from Frys yestarday and it came in just a foil cover no directions or box, "is this normal for laptop hard drives to come like this? So if anybody can assist me in the installation it would be greatly appreciated. So far I installed the drive, yes I removed the battery and any power running, yes I got static mat and wrist pad, yes I downloaded Hitachi's boot disc utility from website, and booted ran utility and niot progress, yes jumpers are set correctly as master tried all the jumpers too. I couldnt find anywhere on the net that it wouldnt be compatible with notebook. This being a newer model it should be compatible. I tried booting to XP Pro when running XP install its says its on 7689 MB and its a 60 Gigabyte. Tried formatting under NTFS and Fat32 with no success. XP gave error stating unable to complete format try reinstalling hardware. ANy advice or knowledge of these issues Im having with my notebook would be greatlyt appreciated
