Okay, I think I really screwed this up. I was installing XP on a new hard drive set for master and when the setup asked for which drive I wanted to put it on, I accidently set the partition up on my slave. I realized the mistake and went to the drive in IE when XP finished installing. It kept asking if I wanted to format the hard drive when I clicked on it. I decided to put my old master hard drive on to see if I could still access it that way and when I went to look at it in IE, it was there, but when I clicked on it, it said something about the drive not really being there and then the icon vanished. I thought that maybe deleting the partition would help, but that did nothing. The drive does exist in my Device Manager and is mentioned at start up. I also ran compmgmt.msc and it's there as well. However, it does not have a file system (it was NTFS before). Is there anything I can do to recover the data on there without having a hard drive of a similar size? Can I just tell XP somehow that it's NTFS?
Thanks in advance to any help that is provided.

i'm pretty sure that when you set up the new partition on your slave, it wiped out the old partition information, so windows needs to format it to see it. i would imagine your data is still on there, at least what didn't get written over by the install, but you will have to go to a data recovery place to get it back.

i could be wrong, though. get more opinions.

sorry.
