I was wondering how to convert a hard drive from RAW to FAT 32 without formatting. Is there a freeware software that does that??

Thanks!

As far as I know, changing the file system always requires formatting.

What about Symantec PartitionMagic. I know it can convert win32 to ntfs or vice versa, without losing any data, but not sure about raw.

With Windows, you can change it from FAT32 to NTFS without formatting, so you might be able to change that.

Go into My Computer>Right click on the flash drive>Format>Under File system, choose FAT 32, then hit start.

It doesnt give any option for FAT32, All I can see is Unknown capacity and FAT...

I re-intalled Windows on my computer and forgot to detach Flash disk. Internal HDD got formated so as the Flash Disk.

Now that I want to use Flash disk, all data is erased, fair enough but it wont let me format it. It keeps on prompting to format Flash Disk and when I click to format it says Windows was unable to format.

When I use DOS commond prompt to format it says current FS is RAW (I have never heared of this before. and I use commond:

FORMAT E: FS:FAT (FAT32 OR NTFS).

Error: Windows cannot determine the number of sectors on this volume.

Any Genius !!!!

Use disk management:

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management

In Computer Management, click "Disk Management" on the left which is under "Storage." In the lower portion on the right, you should see a list of all the volumes. Right-click on the one you want to format and click "Format"

If it is a removeable drive you want to format, use "Removable Storage" under "Storage" instead of "Disk Management."
