I just downloaded and installed this program and when playing either a 720p or 1080p trailer, it only plays sound and a frame every 10 seconds or so. It's terribly buggy. I can play progressive HD-WMV files PERFECTLY. Anyone else have this problem? I'm quite sure it's not my hardware since I have decent specs. Any suggestions?

I uninstalled then reinstalled quicktime and I get the same problems. Does anyone else experience this jerky playback? I work at the apple store and even 1.8 GHz iMacs can play these videos flawlessly. I really hope it's not my computer..

What I meant is I am able to play HD WMV videos (1080p) in windows media player very easily. But when trying to play quicktime 1080p files, it looks like crap. I know they're totally different content types, but they have the same resolution and framerate. Theoretically, I should be able to play one if I can play the other. Does that make sense?

Quicktime is CRAP.

I hate Quicktime player and will not let it on my computer.

I know Microsoft is promoting WMV HD discs on dual layer DVD's, but where do you even get Quicktime 1080p files?

I totally agree, but I have to say, seeing the Batman Begins trailer in perfect 1080p is one of the most beautiful things I've seen. If only they would put out trailers in WMV-HD, I'd be happy. But till then I'm stuck with quicktime. There's really very little HD content out there to check out.

Yeah, that's where I got the WMVHD files I was talking about. They play perfectly. Quicktime, not so good. I guess it's either cuz it's a preview release or cuz it's another s**tty piece of apple software. I was just curious if other people had the same playback issues.

Well, I played all of them fine except "step into liquid", then I got new cpu, mem, & better cooling for cpu, & gfx card, went back to see, & it played everything fine, no prob

I am doing WMVHD in software w/ raw horsepower, so maybe I can do the quicktime also

it looks like the player trys to stream the files from the internet directly, is there any way to download them to the hard disk and play them from there?

looking at the file size and the length (time) of one of the 1080p files, it looks like you would need at least 786 kB/s downstream bandwidth, Nb thats kilo BYTES, so a high speed internet connection of about 6 to 7 megs is needed

Little known fact, almost all streaming content can be found on your HDD in the 'hidden files area" w/ a picture or video search

I just look at the source code of the pages that have the 720 and 1080p links at the HD gallery and using "find" I find the .mov file. Then I can save it that way to my hard drive. Simple : ) By the way, I have a Leadtek A400 so I don't think I have WMV acceleration. I may be wrong. But yeah, I get by just fine without it, if that's the case.

Yeah, they put it there so don't know where it is, it is hard to delete w/ normal cleaning, & it wastes space on your HDD

That's really funny... I can't believe 1gig of RAM AND a dual xeon is needed! That's HILARIOUS. Good job pointing that out.. Looks like more than 95% of the public won't be able to enjoy HD quicktime content. I guess we'll just have to be happy with the much better, much less system resource intensive HD WMV files. Apple's a joke. I work for them, but they need to get their sh*t together.
