You guys are too focused on the technical side of this announcement. Big companies only do things for business reasons. Jobs would not have made such an announcement so far ahead of market availability unless there was something really profitable in it for Apple (and his own ego). Jobs has long wanted to kick Bill Gates in the rear end, and Intel hasn't been happy playing second fiddle to Microsoft on the desktop - and at least one industry observer thinks he knows how this announcement fits into this. It has little to do with processor markets and everything to do with Windows. Read this: http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20050609.html.

screw that we already know the technicality of it, but we also know that the image of apple is such that you need to be blind to not see how hes flamed intel and said how its inferior and now hes abandoned ibm and gone for the exact same people he flamed before, and makes it seem like the people he flamed offered something better....its why were p**sed, cuz its technically retarded and corporately decisive.....if it wasnt for the image and promoting intel and apple would be long dead,...

That article was excellent. Even if it turns out to be completely wrong, the writer makes a compelling argument.
