According to the latest TV ad I've seen, the Dell Dimension 2350 is now down to $569, from $699. With a Pentium 4 CPU, etc, this sounds like an unbelievably low price. Has anyone here actually bought or used one of these? Or is Dell giving away the store?

i got one. except i got the celeron 2 ghz. i got mine with 128 megs of ram (one reason why the price is so low) harmond kardon speakers, regular keyboard and mouse, 17 inch monitor, cdrw, DVD and a 60 gig HD, 56k modem and 10/100 LAN all for $630..

they use the intel 845GL motherboard which might be why its so cheap. everything is integrated, sound, lan, video.

i think its a good deal. and you can get 256 megs of ram for just 30 bucks more. so far its been great. pretty quick (with more ram it will be 10x faster)

if you already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, hard drive, cd-rom, etc. it would be more cost effective and you could get more power if you just upgraded the motherboard, cpu and ram:)

Does anybody have any idea as to which motherboard will be compatible with the Dell DImension 2350? I'm looking to buy an Intel D845GERG2, but I'm not sure if it's similar to the default board in the case. If you don't know the answer, would you know who manufacturers the default board that comes with the 2350?

Ignore my question about the motherboard for the 2350. I ended up getting the 4550. It was too much of a headache and would cost more to switch it out.

As for your question Jake F, it's a Pentium 4 heatsink. Although there's no fan directly on top of it, there is a green component connecting it to a large fan located in the back of the PC.

I just bought a Dell 2350 only to find out I can't replace the integrated video card because the motherboard doesn't have any AGP slots. I don't want a PCI graphics cards for many reasons. My plan of action is to replace the motherboard which right now is a Intel® Desktop Board D845GLVA featuring the Intel® 845GL chipset. I have a 2.4 ghz pentium 4, 256mb ddr-sdram, 120gb hd, 16x dvd player, 48x burner if any of that info is important. If anyone could inform me on what model motherboard to buy or to advise me to do something else instead of replacing the motherboard, please reply.

Thank you

Wooahhhh...dude. You will have some serious issues if you take the Dell stocked motherboard outa there, you're hard drive may not accept any other motherboard because Dell doesn't want u to swtich. Further, you warranty will be voided. I highly suggest you don't do it, you'll end up with out a computer at all.

Ben is right. I posted a similar inquiry and ended up just returning the 2350 for the 4550. It was a pain in the ass to do the research to replace the MB. My suggestion: Either get the 4550 or build your own PC.

Hi folks, after buying a PC 4 years ago and having to put up with an awful graphics card I thought this time I would make sure I got a good one.
So what did I do? I bought a Dell 2350 thinking I would upgrade the graphics card. Now I find there is no AGP port!

Can anyone recommend a decent PCI card for this machine? I don't play many graphic heavy games - but I like the odd MMORPG so it would be nice to have a card that can cope with these at least for the next couple of years.

Any recomendations? I would especially like to hear from anyone who has actually installed one of these onto their 2350 - but any advice appreciated.

I'm a bit worried as one forum I looked at said not all the PCI cards fit into the 2350.
Thanks for any help
Chris

Gf 4 mx440 for the PCI slot is good, my friend has one on his celeron 400 and gets semi-good FPS in rather demanding games, like MOHAA.

Anyone any ideas on how to disable the onboard graphics in the Dell 2350 ?

I have BIOS a02

I have an option to go AUTO from ONBOARD in the BIOS.

But my new PCI card has no video output, although currently is showing as a working properly device in the Device Manager, together with the onboard Intel.

Do i need to change jumper settings? , or disable the Onboard in Windows before I reboot and change the BIOS to auto?

Hopefully you can help

Chris

Yeh I have , nut that refers to BIOS a01 , I have a02.

Do I need to go back a version , mine has AUTO/ONBOARD as the options.

Im sure I just have to follow those instructions (i.e. Disable my ONBOARD in Windows before I install my PCI and switch to AUTO)

But im not 100% confident , and dont want to be left with no video output on the PC at all.

Then I really will be in trouble.

Any ideas

Regards

Dave

We just bought a Dell 2350, and I too did not know this computer did not have any agp slots. I bought a GeForce 5200 PCI 128mb graphics card and spent the entire day loading this dang thing

I did the following to get this card to work

Ensure monitor is pluged into onboard graphics slot

1. Place card into PCI slot
2. load software required for the card, I downloaded updated software from the internet
3. go to control panel, hardward, device manager and disable your current graphics card
4. Restart computer, again go to device manager and check to see if your new card has been assigned an IRQ, If it has you are good to go
5. Restart Computer
6. Press F2 go and change your video bios from on-board to auto (I did this) I also have O2
7. Save settings
8. while computer is starting up, move your monitor cord to the new pci card slot
9. #8 might not sound right, but its the only way my computer would work

Hope this helps, Greg

Chris

Not much difference unless you play a lot of games, This card seems to prevent lagging (ie you tell a guy to go left, he does it immediately and not a few seconds later)

Glad it helps,

later, Greg
