well just to add my 2 cents to this as a fairly new member , i will normally be browsing this while im at work just too see if there are any new toys out there that i might want to play with. so on a business professional point of view, having words in bold print of the forbidden fruit kind could get the sight access band from the network real fast. so even though as a whole the word doesnt bother me in the least, it can have rather impactual effects if it were to just pop up in big bold print on my monitor with someone who would truly be offended walking into my cube. just my 2 cents on this.

I think the use in question here does lower the overall tone of the dialogue. I wouldn't have expected Motorcyclist magazine to say the same thing about the ZX-10 when it came out.

I think not using profanity, and even slang to a lesser degree, is the way to go. I don't find it offensive at all, and I personally swear all the time. I greet friend with the middle finger, and I curse in posts here on HWA. the video card flame wars are exponentially more off-putting, even without profanity.But Sander, when you swear, it makes you seem more like just a member, not a mod or the 'owner.'

I agreed with the sentiment a few months ago when a post with a curse in the title was censored. It's not really a bad thing, but it brings the whole site down just a little. Personally, I would rather not see it in articles, but it's not a big deal. \

it amazes me how we change topics so quickly, first we're talking about Sander's headline, then we're talking about Bush and his infamous slipups, then deafguy has to open his big profane mouth that spews nothing crap to start a flame war, then the guy above me actually talks about the card... this is what i love this forum! my 2 cents, is, one the one hand, ppl can go to a different site. if one little curse word is going to bother them, then they obviously dont read the forums. and on the other, people like professionalism when reading an informative article, it would be different if it was a short story about the card, but its not. Whether or not you're gunna do that again Sander, who cares, wont deter me from coming to the site. :-D
