For what it's worth, my opinion is that if you have to resort to profanities in any form, then you have lost the plot. The English language contains more than enough comparable words to use without having to curse and swear. I agree that the use of the 'f' word by any person with regard to his occupation is unprofessional, more so when that person's occupation would be expected to improve his wordmanship. But what irks me most is when people use asterisks or whatever in place of the content of a word. If you haven't the bottle to use the expletive in it's proper form, then don't use it!!!!! My final comments are that this is supposed to be a computer forum not a child's playground, so shame on you Sander, you certainly should know better.

They say you are perceived by the way you carry yourself, which includes the manner in which you speak.

Some might find it offensive and others might not.
I myself did not have a problem with it.
To play devils advocate, I would say it's best not to use it in a public forum.

Too many youngsters visiting the site and their parents may not approve if they were to see it.

Other than that, I didn't think it was such a big deal.

lol i thought it was very eye catching. When i saw it popup on my email with the header i thought it was spam at first lol.
I rarely find anything offensive, especially when its just a word and used in the way you used it.
Any word can be used for offence but yet some people have "Issues" with only a few of the thousands in the english dictionary.

You provide a great service and inform people on current computer related issues for free! If they find anything offensive just like someone said about tv, they can always switch over, or in this case unsubscribe and loose out.

I agree entirely with Archangel's post at the top of the page. Exactly how I felt, I just didn't know how to put it into words.

By now, everyone should see what I meant by the kids taking it as a license to use profanity as much as possible without cause or reason. Take quite a few of the posts before this one, for example. Personally, I think it shows the intelligence of the user. If you can't think of a word to replace the profanity with, then it is from a lack of vocabulary. When it is used for no reason at all, it is a sign of immaturity. The only time I would even consider using profanity would be during a time of extreme emotion, and that's the only time that I would deem it necessary for anyone to use it. Everyone has the right to do as they will, but it is a sign of character.

As far as this speech goes, it's more for the kids here. I'm sure that it's pretty obvious to pick out which ones are kids by all of the useless profanity.

Trust me, the jury is still out on the correct spelling of center and theater, depending on whether you're from the US or the UK. My spell checker, and our editor, tell me that it is spelled correctly as is, but as always opinions differ and we're still not a English literary website.

If you were an English major, your run-on sentence wouldn't look like s**t. The word "though" should have commas on either side. The word "properly" should have a period after it, instead of a comma. The word "c'mon" is slang, and is just as wrong as improper spelling. If you were going to end the sentence after the word "center", then you should have capitalized the first letter in the word "just". The word "and" should have been preceded by a comma.

Don't point out other people's mistakes, if you don't have all of your errors fixed. There's always someone that knows a bit more, and none of us are perfect.

And thank you for biting Blue.......now we can have a sensible conversation on the pro's and con's of the Education system, grammatical inaccuracies and quite frankly the appaling use of spelling in your Country.

C'mon (I did it again Blue ) you "Ooh, Sanders used the F word" bemoaners....there are far more important issues to debate here surely?.....How about the reason why America refuses to sign up to the Kyoto agreement or the exact reason Britain and America invaded Iraq..........those topics should be good for a few "F's" and "B's" for sure.

it was a double joke in that a: the spellings are idiomatic to our respective countries, and b: there are much more worthwhile things to argue about.

he gave pointers in his second post on what we could be arguing about, and he did include britain, his homeland, in there, he's not just US bashing. then he mentioned which card we could argue about.

frankly, calling someone an idiot and saying they have a small brain isn't exactly leading by example when it comes to posts that have merit.

Well I'm sorry if I got your gander up there Blue, but as Matt has rightly pointed out, it was not to bash a culture, merely to highlight the inconsequence of an "F" word in an article about the fastest graphics card released to date.

As most people have pointed out on this thread it isn't really worth getting worked up about when the real focus should be the content of the review and not the title. For me the use of the "F" word in the title merely highlighted the author's incredulation at the performance of the card, and having read the article, I can see why.

As for the small brain and being an idiot.......well personally I think you got me in one ....now shall we get back to the hardware discussions?
