Martin,

Congrats on that SB95Pv2 !!!!!

I would say that the first thing is to get it up and running and then see what happens. Right now it is a mix bag on the heat/noise issue for this unit since you may read it is noisy/hot at one review with all the while at another review saying that the noise/heat issue is NOT an issue. One of the first thing you want to do is update the bios to the latest as it fixes the smart fan operation in the bios. So depending on your particular unit and shelf time, it may or may not have the latest bios installed.

So when you do get it up and running, stand back and so some monitoring of the noise and heat parameters. If you feel that it is too noisy or to hot then takes steps to do some modding to get the noise and heat under control to your liking.

yes i do understand that there apparently can be quite some difference between the units... which i find very concerning actually (if i've got one of the "bad" ones):S

i hope updating the bios will help if i experience problems with noise/heat. one more thing: where do i find the newest bios-version?

sorry but i'm kinda new to building my own computer.

Martin,

here you go

http://www.shuttle.com/share/fae/hq/download/bios_rdm/readmefb95v2.htm
http://global.shuttle.com/Download/Download_File.asp?Item=SB95P%20V2

So when you get the bios fired up, compare your version to the version history list and see where you are at.

nope.... dont have one but would love to have one as an addition to my home theater system. If I were to get one today, the SB95Pv2 would be it. But when the time for me to get one, it would be the current model at that time.

[edit] - Oh... almost forgot..... I wouldnt be able to get this particular model now anyhow because of the video option..... since I am a ATI All in Wonder follower I would not be able use this sff unit because it uses a PCI-e interface and the most powerful AIW format is the AIW X800XT model which is AGP only. I have to wait to see what may or may not come out in the AIW line.
