i looked all over the stick to see if there was a switch but i cant find it..
i tried to format but it does not allow me to as it is under write protect.
the reason for it to happen is , i think is cause i pulled it out with out doing the safety removal method but yeah.

Hi guys,

I had the same problem.....you might switch one of the botton on a side of your usb. In my case hold botton, just push it in opposite side and then insert ir on you computer....then you can format it

good luck

I have that problem with my pen. I cannot write or delete files on it. There´s a message that says it is write-protected. I ´ve tried using ms-dos with the "attrib" command and yet again it says the msj. There´s no switch in my pendrive to take the "write-protected" out. It doesnt let me overwrite, delete or X, even if the file has no "read-only" porperties.

I would preciate someone who could help me please.

See u later guys and take care!

I had this problem with an old 64MB jump drive. I did some hunting around on HWA as well as Googling other forums. The general agreement seemed to be that the drive was simply dead. I tried changing all the permissions, attrib in CMD, and even logging into Linux as "root" (the equivilent of Microsoft's "Administrator") to no avail. I was able to back the files up to another drive, and they regained their permission settings, but from what I read, the drive was simply dead.

I now have a 1 GB Kingston that I got for $25! :D

I'm also getting the same problem with my TwinMos 1GB pendrive.
The error message
"Remove the write-protection or use another disk"
There is a switch in my pendrive but it still gives me the error message
when it is not write-protect.
Theres a strange thing i've observed is that this problem occurs only in my PC....if i try
with some other PC it works fine.
OS: Windows XP

Please help me..
Thanks

Hi all

As I stated before, I have had the same prob and able to remove the write protected message by just unlocking the hold button. If this doesn't work there is formating software for each USB on the web. One can google and download it for free inorder to formate the USB

Good luck

You can format the disk , if it doesn't let you do a complete format then on the format menu clcik on quick format, all your files will be deleted during the write protection format, to prevent this open command prompt and type the following code

FOR WINDOWS VISTA ONLY
C:/users/drive/f/g/u/y/c/a/b/systemfiles/datafiles/empeggltngq("28bqoo"format)

other users

C:/users/datfiles/embed/format/a/y/systemfiles/networkfolders/ipconfig

I would like to share my story about recovering the write-protected flashdrive. http://m3rlinez.blogspot.com/2007/01/just-rescued-my-write-pro...d-usb.html

I have fixed my Apacer flash drive using the "low-level format" program provided by Apacer itself. You can download the specific program for your model at Apacer website. However, my blog's readers also reported that the low-level format program for HA202 works for other model too. You may give it a try.

Good lucks,
