This may make me look stupid but just wanted to check, my work computer has been making strange noises when working (sounds like fan catching something) also sounds like the processor is speeding up to a high work load when not really doing anything demanding, checked on task manager and the CPU usage history was showing the usual green line but also a red line? i have never seen this line before and wasn't sure if there was a problem with the processor?, any help or info?, System specs im not too sure about but do know the processor is an AMD Athlon XP2600+ and has 1GB RAM

Thanks
(ignore Specs below as they are my home system)

Play around with System Performance Monitor. If you haven't already, you will catch fairly quickly I suppose. Scratch down a baseline of the system, let the monitor run for a few hours; moitoring Processor, RAM, Page file, and Disk. Just play around with it man. That's the best way to determine your outcome. Let me know.

Yeah managed to sort out what the problem is now, think the bearings have gone in the CPU cooling fan so its occasionaly slipping on the bearings n slowing down making a bit of a racket, and so unfortunately the processor is getting a little too hot

Temps From Speed Fan 4.26

Temp1= 31c
Temp2= 58c
HD0= 38c
Temp1= 44c

Im only guessing cos not used this before but Is Temp 1 case temp, Temp 2 CPU, HD0 obviously Hard Drive, Unsure about Temp 1 = 44c,

Thats a hot system ( as in temps) have you got any cases fans?

Have you got your bios up to date, try using asus probe on the board to get the correct readings.
