I took my laptop on a road trip last week, and when I got back, and try to play a CD from the CD drive, it skips, or stutters. If I rip the CD to my hard drive and play it from the hard drive using iTunes, it works just fine. And in iTunes, I used to get around 11x importing speed, now I'm getting around 5x. The only thing we did on the road trip was play a couple of DVD movies. The battery did run out of juice both times and it hibernated, but I've shutdown, ran a hard disk test, and still the stuttering continues.

The first thing that hit me was the word ROAD. A lot of laptops were not designed to be bouncing around a car. Especially while trying to play a DVD. Sorry but I think you messed it up big time.

Let me rephrase that...

DVD players are not made to be bouncing around a car...
