nope..its on..I meant I have no problem anymore with this configration..no crashs no damn loop msgs...

I believe all problem is related E7205 chipset .. to update from intel's website latest driver for this chipset also new version of intel application driver will solve everyone's problem..

Hi Levent,

Which Intel Application Driver did you use and on what Intel page did you find it? According to Intels' web site the newest Application Drivers listed there don't support the E7205 chipset.

I have previously updated the chipset driver, which added a little more stability but the problems have not gone away. They are just less frequent.

Dont use Intel application accelerator, my system was running perfectly as I posted before. Then last night I thought I'd try the accelerator. Instantly I started getting lockups and weird system freezes. I uninstalled the intel application accelerator today and no problem back to 100% stable system.
Dont install it, if you have and you are getting freezes and weird s**t happening, uninstall it straight away.

Thanks.

I didn't install it. I didn't download it because Intel says it's not compatible with the E7205 chipset.

I just want to know what Application Drivers Levent installed to eradicate his problems.

Hi,

I haven't installed intel's application exterminator on my stable system
p4g8x deluxe + Sapphire Atlantis 9700 pro

My previous os install wasn't stable at all.
I had installed Intel's app. accalerator there.

If it helps; I had crashes after about 3 minutes and then i updated the BIOS to version 1005 and voilà, no further crashes...
my system:
Pentium4 2.66GHz 533Mhz
1 GB DDR RAM 400 Mhz
ASUS P4G8X
Radeon 9500 PRO

Now to my problems:
I testet this graphiccard on another System with an Athlon 1,2Ghz and 512RAM with 3D Mark 2003. The result was actually better than with my new Components. Thats very strange and that's why I ask, if anyone knows what the reasons could be? Any BIOS-config tips to increase my performance? do i have to set the frequenzy or anything?

Help is much apreciated...

damn..my comp worked for 3 days perfectly...and then again 640X480 problem...I think I'll destroy my radeon...I'm trying to fix this problem since one month...and I'm bored anymore...I don't want to disable or off any option...I paid money for them...hard question is should I change mainboard or radeon...

"Which Intel Application Driver did you use and on what Intel page did you find"

I know intel application accerelation driver does not support E7205..but when I uninstall this my cdrw and dvd drivers disappear in my hw list..I dont know why...should I have to reinstall winxp in order to ride of this program ?

By the way I don't think this is the only problem..I believe even without this program this comp will crash again..

ahh...I really missed my old stable PII 350 system.. :)

Hi Levent,

I would keep de radeon and go for the Sus P4P800 or even the P4C800.
Those are i865 Springdale and i875 Canterwood chipset.

There is a problem with AGP 3.0 in the E7205 (Granite Bay) Chipset.
Which should be resolved in i865 + i875

but I read a post above..someone has got same problem with P4C800... actually I was wondering...if the problem asus mainboards or ATI radeon ??.. I didn't hear this AGP 3.0 problem..So I seems to better change mainboard then...but I'm not sure about P4C800.

Hi Levent,

This is a qoute from Lustcircuits.com

" Exacerbating in this situation is that both the E7205 "Granite Bay" and the E7505 "Placer" chipsets are plagued by a few bugs in form of some signal timing issues that don't meet the AGP 3.0 specifications, specifically, the tVALmin or data valid window skew meaning that the data arrive and expire too early. This can be remedied by adjusting the trace length on the mainboard level. ,,

Read more here or just search in Google.com for e7205 or granite bay and agp 3.0
http://www.lostcircuits.com/motherboard/asus_p4g8x/3.shtml

The message you are reffering too is off topic.
As far as I know Canterwood and Springdale (stripped canterwood)
succeed where Granite Bay fails.
You can see reviews all around the net with test setups with P4C800 including a Radeon 9700 pro.

So my suggestion is Canterwood or Asus P4C800 and if you don't need all the features you can also choose P4P800.
With nice upgrade possibilities like the news P4 800FSB and dual channel 400 Mhz DDR SDRAM.

Also you can always sell and updgrade your video card easily.
Changing your mainboard is allot more involved.

Deech

I suggest the 9800 Pro 256MB, P4C800 Deluxe.
And 2 times 512 or 2 times 256MB cas 2-2-2-5 400 Mhz DDR

I don't know what kinda memory you have now.

I choose for cas 2-3-3-6 and my system is stable.
with P4G8X and 9700 pro.
More aggressive mem timing could make my system less stable.

But with the above combination P4C800/9800pro you are sure to
beat all your friends in "who has the biggest one"
Also notice to use 2 DDR modules in order to activate dual channel.

Greetz,

Deech

This might be a solution. I haven't ran any games yet but at lest it doesn't crash when the screen saver goes on. It's by George Brown you can check out the string at: http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/4804

The solution to the problem without using hacked drivers:

You all are going into infinite loops because Windows refresh rates do not work with those of the ATI card. You'll notice that if you go into the advanced display settings under the displays tab you will see that the monitors refresh rate is set at sixty hertz. this is because the "use DCC" checkbox is checked. uncheck it and set the refresh rate to match what you have set in windows. Then you must select "same as desktop" in the direct3d override dropdown so that it will still match in games.

The solution is a rare find on the net but if you look long you'll find a polish website discussing the problem

Mike,
Upgrading the bios is not that hard at all but if you have trouble using dos or creating a boot disk take your computer to a tech mate. If you are confident enough using dos go to the link below to find out how its done.

http://www.asus.com.tw/support/english/techref/mbfeatures/ezflash.aspx

The bios update for the board is here :
http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=P4G8X%20Deluxe

Good luck

rans,

Hmm not overclocked and no post -overclocking error.

When you have this error you should be able to switch the system on and off and the crash free bios on the board will reboot with safe bios settings.
If it doesn't allow it to post there is a jumper to force it to clear the bios on the motherboard (warning :only do this when the power is off).
If thats not the problem I can think of a few other things to try.
1. Does the 300W power supply have Pentium 4 4 pin power plug?
2. Is the 4 pin power plug for the Pentium 4 pluged in to the motherboard?
3. Is the VGA card the correct voltage? Plugged in correctly.
4. Is the RAM faulty, try taking one ram card out and restarting.
Good luck

I already noticed that and uncheck use DDC last week..but this is not a solution..I'm getting infinitive loop msg again..Believe I tried every solutions.

Main problem is related INTEL..and they accept it.We can see same problem even with a Ndivia card in any intel chipset mainboard.

Intel ® E7205 Chipset Memory
Controller Hub (MCH)

1. tVAL(min) Timing Is Not Meeting AGP 3.0 Specification
Problem: During simulation studies, it was determined that the AGP signals were not meeting the tVAL(min) of
1ns.

Implication: AGP interface is susceptible to latching invalid data.

Workaround: Minimum trace lengths for the AGP common clock and source synchronous signals have increased to
offset this timing violation. Refer to latest platform design guide.

Status: No fix planned for this erratum. Issue resolved by board workaround.

2. AGP Prefetch Cache Must Be Disabled

Problem: System hangs can occur during AGP transactions when the AGP Prefetcher is enabled.

Implication: System hang.

Workaround: Disable AGP Prefetch Cache by clearing bit 0 of AGP Miscellaneous Register (Device 1 Function 0
Offset A0-A3h).
