I recieved my taxes back this year and its time for a CPU upgrade. If I was to just remove the old processor and put in the FX-60 should everything run proper? Or do I have to reinstall everything from square one?

I'm dumping the 3200 for the FX-60. Rest of my computer specs are below.

You may need to update your Bios to the latest version to support the new cpu. Check the manufacturer's website for details. Other than that it's pretty much plug and play.

IMO you would see better gaming performance by getting a slightly lower rated chip (say X2 4400+) and get a better video card from the latest gens (7800gtx or x1800xt), and maybe 2gb of ram.

Just getting that CPU aint gonna show ya massive performance difference. (well it will from the 3200+, but your money could be spent more wisely IMO)

yeah man go for a 4400+ and a second 6800GT to go SLI. Make sure you have good cooling and nice strong power supply though.

WEll getting SLI would mean getting a new motherboard...

However, a new mobo would make better use of the RAM, about 25% better I think that NF2 run about 3-4 and NF4 run 4-5 mb/s and over

Would I see a better performance by keeping the same CPU and getting 2 7800 GTX's and a MB or just switching the CPU?

I am a video game addict. The problem i'm having is when I try to FRAPS the game i'm playing, I hit the FRAPS record button and it looks like I only get 5 FPS. It's so hard video editing that.

Anymore help on this would greatly be appreciated. Thanks all!

Do a bit of both!!

Get a good CPU (as I suggested, something like a 4400+ X2), then you'll have money to spare for a good mobo, say a DFI Ultra-D (which can be modded to SLI, has two PCI-E x16 slots), and get a good single vid card solution, like an x1800xt, or 7800gtx, or wait a month and get a new x1900 series, or 7900 series at the end of march.

I personally think a 4400+ X2, DFI Ultra-D and an x1800xt would be a killer setup

NO YOU JUST HAVE TO UPGRADE THE MOTHERBOARD BIOS IF REQUIRED, ALTHOUGH IT WORKS FINE.

I dont care. I just want to know why people have to feel the need to do that when they make posts on forums? If anything, it just makes me want to NOT help them.

well if he is into overclocking the FX60 is the friend due to the Unlocked Multiplier, but considering this, CPus of Choice would be 4400, 4800 (2MB), FX60 or Opteron Line

Supreet's response cracked me up for this very reason. I actually lol'd. Nice, Supreet.
